Talking of Headingley/Yorkshire Post, we played in a T20 cup for many years. We assembled a fine t20 unit, full of big hitters and plenty of bowling. Having broken the cup record for highest scores twice in 4 matches we faced a final against Cambridge Meths. Things were going to plan when the first ball of the game went for six over the pavilion. However, things went off the rails at 24-7 off 8 overs. We did bat deep and scraped up 111 ao off 20 overs. The oppo were 50-1 off 9 but lost momentum and wickets at the wrong time to end up 100-7. Never have been so pleased to captain a team and to get us out of that situation.

Last season would have been taking the catch to get a promising young fast bowler his first league wicket and then taking the stumping to give him 5 for in his first league game and batting with him when he CA's in as No11 and somehow Chinese cut the winning run so a great day for the lad.

My personal best would be scoring 120no on the day my grandfather died as he got me into cricket. I was at the ground when I was told and decided to play as he always wanted to play himself (hated rained off games etc in his day) probably the best I have ever hit a cricket ball to this day and it was chance less and for me personally I fantastic time on the pitch S I was also surrounded by team mates and the dressing room banter that happens. Really helped me that day.

A Lad came out in a cup final and he started talking to all the bowlers being cocky etc. The usual. But then he started sledging us to the other batsman saying don't worry they can't bowl straight you'll be fine. Not even trying to hide it.
Then I come on to bowl couple of decent balls that he blocks I try the quicker one turns into a short double bouncer that he goes to smash misses and bowls him middle stump

The large poo I had in the ditch behind long on, during a particularly turgid over at Old Hamptonians CC.

Playing an old team in the last game of the season that was a cup final, they had beaten us comfortably 3 times that season already and had let me know all about it.

Snaffled one diving 1 handed in slip (only memory of this at the time or now is lying on the floor with the ball in one hand). Running out another. Being asked to bowl for the first time all season and getting 2 out. Highlight was my old captain, chucked a quicker one down leg and had him stumped of a wide, don't you love it when a plan comes together! Finally took the match winning catch in front of the pavilion.

This whole day beats my only ever ton in cricket, but only just.

I have never got so drunk after a match ever!

Last season has to be against a proper bunch of knobs. First game one of their players was chirping away as they easily beat us, (everybody easily beats us), for no reason. We know we are rubbish but just enjoy playing. I offered him and him only a home made malted milk after the game which he was very confused about, but he was being a child so I thought it was fair. Second game against them, they come out all guns blazing. Batsman after batsman retires at 50, one after another, until chirpy man walks in. He hit about 3 runs bowled middle stump. We went mad, like we had won the biggest game of our lives. The look on his face was just the best thing in the world. And to top it off, their scorecard read 50,50,50,3,50,50,45. They scored 298 from 20 overs and we scored under 100. But still the best game of cricket I have played in ages!

I may have massaged the figures slightly! There were many many extras! Our worst performance extra wise is 80 extras out of 178 runs :) Two Bats or Not Two Bats losing in style and grace circa 2011

Would have to be a few years ago playing for the club 2nd XI, the oppo batted first and fell to 40-4 before recovering to a pretty mammoth 285-4 from 45 overs. We knocked them off with 2 overs to spare about 7 wickets down, I scored a personal best of 153

Playing a game against my (older) brother about 3 years ago, I ran down the track and smashed him back over his head for a one bounce four. He had his revenge in his next over though as I tried the same again and was bowled for 44  :(

Reading the  posts prompted me to remember around  40 seasons ago as a young player  opening the batting against an opening bowler who was in his 50s who was giving me an earful each ball I did something completely out of character for me and against everything I had been taught re opening the batting I  charged halfway down the track dropped on one knee and swept the bowler for a mighty six. Rather than shut the bowler up each ball he bowled after that he came at me like a hungry lion chasing a Gazelle.

Played a mob of sledging arrogant d$ckheads a few years ago. We batted first and got a barrage of lip from them. We made a reasonable total. Following week we bowled them out cheaply and put them back in to got for the outright. Came down to one wicket remaining. I was at square leg and moved in close for the last ball as a hail mary. The ball popped up on the leg side and i dived forward and caught the mouthiest player to win the game. Very satisfying considering i was not the most athletic of players. Probably looked more like a whale beaching, but in my team's minds it was the best catch they had seen.

Two moments I cant really decide between.

About 5 years ago we were playing against top in our league, they racked up 280 in about 40 overs and declared.  We were 100-1 in the 15th over then 120-5 in the 20th.  I wasn't the best batsman at the time but could tough it out.  I batted for 42 overs for 46* batting with numbers 10 and 11 for 10 overs each.  They were very frustrated (I was winding them up sledging back at them) and after the last ball of the innings the bowler threw the ball at me before he walked off.  Suffice to say they were peeved off but I had the final laugh and they didn't get promoted in the end.

Second one happened last season.  We turned up to a 2020 game with 9 players.  We had 2 first eleven players, 3 second eleven players, 3 third eleven players and one who struggles to get in our fives.  Miraculously against the oppos full first team we kept them down to 165 and chased it.  Understandably they were shocked and started arguing amongst themselves.  I batted 3 and scored 60 odd to put on a 130 partnership with one of my best mates to knock off the vast majority of the total.  It was part of a ridiculous period where we played 6 games in a week (2020x2, LMSx2 + Sat+Sun cricket), he scored 350 runs and I scored 300.  Spent the best part of a week in the middle with my mate!  :D
