Not really impressive but there was one game in 2011 or 2012 where we played Aston Ingham at home, chasing about 180, came in at 5 with roughly 40 to win and hit 22 not out off about a run a ball (very quick for me!!).  Every ball I faced was from the same end and I just remember creaming 5 fours through the off side field and seeing us home!

Another was playing Fairford away on the day of the air tattoo in 2010. Baking hot! Limited the oppo to 140.  There was a 12 year old lad in something like his 2nd adult game for us, we got chatting and I was in at 3 and my time to bat came and he said 'hit a 6 Ollie mate, hit a 6!!' I said 'No chance mate I need to be sensible!'  Needless to say, first 2 balls I faced were pushed back to the bowler.  The third ball however, was driven over the bowler's head, straight into the sightscreen for 6 to get me off the mark  With a little nod to the little guy.  Then after a few quick wickets some of the younger kids finished it off.  Including a 6 to hit the winning runs! Great fun.

Another one would be when I was 14 batting 18 overs against the league leaders when we only had enough available to field one of our 2 teams. We was 50 odd for 6 when I came in 8. They instantly bought all the field in and brought on both there opening bowlers. The first one I faced was short and wide that I smacked for 4. When he got angry after me nudging and nurdling 2 covers later he tried bouncing me of which I swing for straight away and ended up top edging for 6. Ended up 34* after facing out all the opening bowler covers and taking a swing against a part timer. Good to see they all come and shook my hand at the end and said well played though. Which was a nice gesture.

Your most satisfying on field moment

amazing how this thread jogs the memory. It's hazy now but when i was 14/ 15 we played a bitter local rival in a cup game, @RF should remember this. We were all out for 100 in a disappointing innings and their tails were up. I was first change, off spin, and despite the small total came on to eventually record my best ever figures of 6 for 8. For some reason i had taken to bowling in my cap.. which the opposition did not like but was totally legal and i took my 6th wicket to bowl them out for 100, effectively tying the game. After much deliberation and calls to the league representatives from their side the umpires awarded us the game on run rate. Great day. yes the figures were unbelievable but the elation of beating a local rival and pulling a victory out of no where was what i remember.

I have had a couple of good moments. Took a screamer of a catch on debut for my old sides 1st XI that was subsequently immortalised in the book 'A Last English Summer' by famous cricket writer Duncan Hamilton. Proved to be the turning point of the game which we went on to win, haven't even come close to taking any better and I'm not a terrible fielder.

I had a particular horrible spell where the radar had gone for a couple of months and eventually found my way down to the 3rd XI in which I was the oldest player by some distance at 23 other than the 52 year old skipper. Bowled well (3fa or something) and hit 30 odd runs batting at 11 to give that side their first win in 2 years, shame that our skipper was the only bloke old enough to buy me a beer!

Another more recent one that will live with me forever was keeping in a friendly game. They had a stocky older West Indian bloke batting and our offie bowler who is quite susceptible to a bit of tap is on. As he releases the ball, the batsman shouts in his West Indian accent, 'Oh, don' bowl der mann!' and subsequently plowed this ball off a half decent length about 60 yards over the long on boundary into the field. I was in tears laughing.

Mate, who was this against?! I had the exact same thing in a game when a west Indian Gentlamen shouted "Don't bowl der mann!" as our Offie released a filthy ball?! Was a team in West London but I can't remember who!

@Boondougal - I remember that, it was against Hibaldstow at home in the cup, we didn't know who had won until after the game (we won cos we bowled them all out).  Nick Gough nearly ended up fighting with one of their lads (Coggy, I think).  Still gets talked about every now and then in bar at Hirst Priory.
When was your last season for us?  Did you play 97 / 98?

I remember you batting all day away at Brigg once.

@RF

Hiblestow?.... I always thought it was west butterwick but your prob right! Beer is the kryptonite of memories!!

I bet 97/98 was the last season.
Life time ago.

Me bat all day... Surely not! I think you mean John. He was pleased with a run an over strike rate!

Good times... Loving this thread.

@Boondougal You batted all day playing for a losing draw, I think you opened and they couldn't get you out. One of them bowled underarm at you trying to take the p**s and you just tapped it back to him, brilliant!

It was Hibaldstow in the cup definitely.

Did you play at West Butterwick when I got 9?

New Calypsonians great bunch. But I digress. Oppo had to win to get promoted. we hated them it was about 90 degree's. I opened and scored 14 of 52 overs. My fellow bat also renown for his quick scoring rate got 22. 38-0 off 52 overs chasing 315 excellent day's work. We didn't take leg byes or any singles for most of the match because we both liked the end we were at. Happy days.

There was this time in 2013 when I went on a bit of a test match style bowling marathon bowling unchanged for an hour, sending down unplayable deliveries and managed to return a 7 for to wrap up a win for a rouge team of kit hoarders out together and captained by a Hobbit. That was a good cricketing memory especially as I'm a keeper/batsmen really.

A few that spring to mind.

Getting through 25 overs on the reel at wythall, playing for aston old eds in div 4 of the works league. It was my last game before I left for walmley in the b'ham league. I'd grown up with the club but played my junior cricket at walmley. We got 150 with an end of the season rag tag side (6 genuine cricketers, 3 rugby lads, 2 social members). Me and the other opening bowler bowled unchanged throughout. I took 4 for 55, we lost by 2 wickets.

Putting on 90  with my mate against har borne, we were 80 -8  at the time and ended up getting a good winning draw. It made both speeches at his wedding when I was best man!! We had great fun, we got 47 and 40 respectively.

Lastly, Kidderminster had got 290 on a lovely deck and we thought although a big score was getable. 7 overs later we were 12 - 5. Batted 2 and a half hours for 49* to get us to 170 - 8. The purpose of draw cricket!! I turned down a single off the penultimate over to get to my 50 as the number 10 said he was confident to face. He faced the six balls, 2 in the nuts and 1 in the shoulder he walked off wounded but still able to say his 0* saved us another point!!

Scoring my first 50 off 22 balls last year and then coming on as 2nd change bowler to take 5 in the same game!

Mine probably would be hitting the winning runs in the cup quarter final this year. We bowled the opposition for 160ish. We were 6 down when I came in, needing 8 to win with 2 overs left. The skipper blocked back the first 2 balls of the penultimate over and we took a single off the third. He then bowled a juicy half volley outside off-stump which I hit for four. And then the next ball, I decided to swing off my (No Swearing Please) and it ended up going for a one-bounce four.

Very close contender, but we lost the game, was a game against Royton when we were 5 for 5... Myself and the skipper put on 90 odd as we were bowled out for 110 on an absolute minefield. We ended up losing by one wicket though.
