Most likely it is coming from the same/similar manufacture. Good luck to them, they came up with the idea/solution.

Its funny I've never really had any issues with grips sliding or shifting too much. I do tend to put new grips on every 6-8 weeks though, maybe that helps.

I read this thread and instead of buying grip grip, went straight to screwfix and bought some self-amalgamating tape, it hasn't worked. In fact, it was fine for one game, and a few overs into my second game it started sliding up, and I mean really quick, there was four inches of exposed binding by the end of the innings.

When I unrolled it the tape had stuck to itself very well, and stuck to the inside of the grip very well, but had no purchase on the binding, this handle's bound with quite a shiny synthetic cord I've not seen before.

What does everyone think? Is the binding on the handle the problem, or is it the sort of tape I bought?

Also, I'm new to re-gripping bats altogether so if I want to old school tape it to the top of the blade, what do I use, just electrical tape?

Almagamating tape is so much cheaper, might I suggest just using more of it? I have GripGrip and applied following instructions and my grips haven't so much as moved a millimetre, I applied it at the start of last season so this is through winter nets and games.

That's the other thing - it left a big noticeable bloody lump under where my bottom hand goes!

I stratched it to almost breaking point so it's not that it wasn't thin enough.

@Akewstick 4 inches of binding showing, how much bottom hand do you use? 

As for the amalgamating tape, I've had it on my bat and it seems to be working well. As it forms a bond to itself you may not have applied enough layers. I like to wrap the handle as tight as I can without snapping the tape, with about a 50% overlap on each 'wind'. Once I've done about half the handle I then go back over what I've done (effectively a double layer of tape) the whole way down, still nice and tight so that there's plenty of tape to tape contact for the bond to form.

Another trick that I've found works well is to apply the tape as soon as I've finished applying a layer of binding to the bottom of the handle. Apply the tape in the same fashion as above, but as the glue on the binding is still wet the first layer of tape is basically glued to the handle, then there's still a double layer of tape as above so there's plenty of tape to tape contact forming a bond. Having applied mine in this way it hasn't budged at all since application.

I haven't. I bought two lots of GripGrip from Jake when it first came out. Still got a roll and a half left as I have never had to redo any of them.

I tried both. Self amalgamating tape didn't work for me. Too thick, not stretchy enough and would not bond. Maybe it was the brand, but I tried a couple before giving up.

The grip grip was far better, but still came off the binding eventually and I could not get it to be re used as it stuck to the grip.

Tried various positions on the handle.

Cannot buy it locally, so I'll give up on it for now.
