for me Strauss (the ECB) really has backed himself into a corner here - if this is the way he wanted to go with Pieterson there really was better ways of saying this!
by coming out and saying that a) Pieterson isn't going to be part of England's plans this summer and b) he (Strauss) is going to be part of selection for this summer - this leads to finding a top quality coach to take England forwards very very difficult indeed - because the 1st question in the interview automatically has to be do you want Pieterson to play, if the answer is Yes then jog on son! so this could rule out the likes of Gillespie, Kirsten, Moody etc...
Gillespie said this in an interview a while back about Pieterson -
“It got messy and that has been disappointing,” Gillespie said of the last 18 months of Pietersen’s career. “I don’t know KP well at all but I respected him as an opponent. When he faced us in 2005 he took the fight to us bowlers. I’d never experienced that before from an England cricketer, with the exception of Michael Vaughan in 2002-03.”
