Great opportunity for Bairstow to prove that he deserves an extended run in the side here.

All out 60!

That many good job for the Aussies Jimmys injured

Do we think that Cook will want to bat as long as possible to exhaust the aussie bowlers, especially as there are only four + Warner?

Come on bairstow !! Keep going son.
Anyone else think aust playing the extra batsmen is flawed thinking?
Back in the 80's and 90's thats what we did-and it didnt work then
If 6 batsmen can do the job 7 are not going to either
I just think it sends the wrong message from the start

Looks like there is something in it for both the batsmen and the bowlers.

Awful!

Watching this is like MasterCard- priceless

If carling did 1st day test Matches.

Sorry I'm living watching the Aussies get totally and utterly smashed. I know it's a long game etc but whist this is happening I'm very happy.

Nothing wrong with the wicket.

If you can't guts it out until lunch with no more than 3 wickets down, then something is wrong between your ears.

Some fine English bowling, but when every wicket is caught in the slips, it tells you about the mind set of a team.

Rule number on day one of a soft, greenish wicket is the play with soft hands and LATE. T20 style hard hands will only lead to disaster.

Admittedly, Clarke had no control of losing the toss here, but on similar conditions at Edgbaston he stupidly chose to bat, so it is somewhat poetic justice that he gets a double reminder here that it is not always an advantage to bat first.

The Ashes are gone again for another 18 months, and the players gave no one to blame but themselves.

Well played England.
