Couldn't agree with this more, playing Trott out of position rather than giving Lyth some more time was criminal in my eyes and quite representative of Moores' whole ethos of picking players he was already familiar with rather than picking players based on form.
I think if you mean the West Indies tour clearly England(Moores) were so scared of losing they didn't risk blooding any new players, like Lyth,Rashid and Wood who were all on the tour.
That means Lyth went straight in against NZ.
It's this sort of thinking that set us back playing negative cricket.I think we saw once Farbrace got hold of the team the one day side played positive aggressive cricket.
I didn't like the way Moores was treated at the end but picking players just because you are familiar with them is no good-it's not club cricket.
Trott at his late stage was too far out of his comfort zone to do well opening.I actually felt sorry for the bloke.
