Well Andersons record at trent bridge is outstanding-as was mentioned above by seniorplayer..so we will miss him.on his day,if there is movement,he is top class.
Not sure Wood is going to be fit so someone may have to step in from outside...
Plunkett is in the squad but if Wood cant play Footitt is the other one...dont know much about him but he has decent form and is genuinely quick.moves it around a bit(i think).
So,yes,its going to be a very interesting match.

Anderson is a massive loss to England no doubt about that at all. The ideal would be bat first score 500 and then who ever comes in won't have huge pressure on him. That means ideally Lyth scores some runs which I really hope he does no idea why, I'm not a Yorkshire fan but just like the way he plays and think he compliments Cook very well.

Fingers crossed as not a huge amount between the teams in my opinion when both play there best.

I'm in the same boat, I like Lyth and I'm not sure why either but I find myself willing him to succeed (not just coz I'm English either haha), a big opening partnership from whichever team bats first could almost win the game on the first day I feel.

Same, I think his game will perfectly compliment Cook's. It's just a shame he can't seem to stay in long enough to let it happen. It will come, but he needs more experience at this level. He would really have benefited from playing in the West Indies. Facing West Indies, New Zealand, Australia would have made for a much better progression than what he has had.

yeah same, not sure ive wanted a player to get going in recent memory as much as Lyth in this next test.The bloke can play, he stands out in the County game and has a very good record.
And yes I think he compliments Cook too.......but the way he is getting out is a concern.

I'm not a Yorkshire fan and don't really like Geoff 'better in my day' Boycott, but if you read his latest column in the newspaper there are very good points regarding opening the batting against quality bowlers with the new ball.

Lyth needs to get over the first half hour, he did get a ton against NZ so can do it.

Couldn't agree with this more, playing Trott out of position rather than giving Lyth some more time was criminal in my eyes and quite representative of Moores' whole ethos of picking players he was already familiar with rather than picking players based on form.

I think if you mean the West Indies tour clearly England(Moores) were so scared of losing they didn't risk blooding any new players, like Lyth,Rashid and Wood who were all on the tour.
That means Lyth went straight in against NZ.
It's this sort of thinking that set us back playing negative cricket.I think we saw once Farbrace got hold of the team the one day side played positive aggressive cricket.

I didn't like the way Moores was treated at the end but picking players just because you are familiar with them is no good-it's not club cricket.

Agree completely, to be fair to him I don't think Graves helped the pressure that was on Moores to win with his "mediocre side" comments before the series either.
