Cricket (and sport in general) is far more interesting when people are making silly comments like that than when they're talking about bowling good areas and executing skills, so good on him (even if I will laugh at him).

Smith once hit on a girlfriend of mine pretty hard when he was smashed off his bonce (including the line 'you have a bf? don't you know who I am?'), so I'm never going to like the bloke, but he was the obvious choice for captain.

Atleast we managed to win a test. Who were your players that stood up when the going was tough in the last Ashes? 5-0.

Swann retired during a series so that his bowling average didn't go over 30, that is actually one of the most pathetic things I've ever seen. Also Trott............  ;)

Smith has the makings of a good captain. He seems to have a good relationship with the players now but it will be interesting to see if that continues now that he is officially the top dog.
The interesting decision for mine is who will be the vice captain and lead the team in the event that Smith is unavailable? Due to the senior players verging on retirement and the rest of the team (bar warner and lyon) still cementing their spot in the side it's a tough choice for Cricket Australia.

Would be well deserved if Lyon was VC. He has barely gone into a test without his place being questioned by some armchair selectors.

Why exactly?

Trott said himself that he was not suffering depression and that he was just feeling "burnt out". He left Australia with his tail tucked between his legs and then he retired just before the next time he had to face them.

As the Aussies move on from Clarke  Australian selectors have recommended to the board that slogger Warner is the new ODI and test vice Captain
