Test match started today.

Build up seemed to concentrate on South Africa spin department as they'd miss fuming part time control.

Who cares, dean Elgar ripping through the Indians with his part time left arm.

Just took his 4th. India 160 odd for 7!!!

It'll be interesting to see how SA bat on this with India's spinners in full swing. Reading on Cricinfo that "The pitch was so dry that Sunil Gavaskar said "he had never seen so many cracks in Chandigarh ever.""

Also noticed Rabada making his debut. Anyone know if Morkel was dropped or injured?

250 looks a decent score on this pitch. Already turning square and only going to get worse

Wow. 21 wickets and they're only in the 5th session overall. That pitch must be a snake pit!

That, or today's batsmen don't know how to apply themselves against moderate spinners in helpful conditions

Apart from AB who got a good ball, the rest played shocking shots. Out of the Ali batting manual.
Nothing wrong with a pitch turning on day 1, we see wickets tumbling on green tops all the time so why is it an issue of the ball is turning.

Pitch is fine, bowling is average.. Shots are one day shots. Another example of poor test cricket being ruined by one day players/mentality.

Very well said ... Except for AB none of the SA batsman were able to push the fielders back.

Only watched a bit so far but only the odd one has turned big. Looks like India have started to take it seriously and bat properly.
