Always had the buckles on the outside but now I've been thinking about it my straps did rub and catch each other a fair bit last year, thinking of swapping now.....

In the old days with leather straps and proper buckles you wore the buckles out to stop them catching on each other. With the newer pads, you have a choice. Buckles out avoiding the risk of long straps catching a ball and an accidental noise resulting in caught behind or buckles in avoiding the long bits of strap sticking to the other leg and causing issues.

Personally I'm easy and just wear them whichever way the first one goes on.

How I used to wear them, until I discovered you're supposed to have them on the inside. No more straps catching on each other and undoing the velcro.

Outside - always found this to be 'proper' way of wearing and I am extremely adamant in keeping them in proper setup.

So basically you guys are saying that we no longer need to supply pads to suit right or left handed batters? As many brands do.

LH or RH doesn't come into it.

And it should be buckles outside, straps in.

If you have the buckle on the inside then you risk striking the buckle with your bat, which sounds more like a nick. Plus I had Slazenger V600 test pads when I was in my late teens that had extra protection on the front pad, so I know this is right

How's about this for an idea... Why don't Aero, Ayrtek, Affinity or A N Other innovative kit designer come up with a new method of affixing pads so that this argument can be rendered moot.

No, because if the two right handed pads still need padding different to left handed pads whether you have the straps on the outside or the wrong way.

Buckle inside straps outside, so the straps don't get tangled and get undone when running, learned it the hard way so extra careful when wearing pads now.
