And did a better job than Ali, and don't forget he kept on occasion too!

Why are they obsessing over this, of all things??? There was clear daylight between bat and ball...NO way he was out.

if it's not out by the third umpire that's that.

I think what has annoyed the England lads is some reserve bloke not even playing doing the umpires job for him. Leave it to the umpire's to signal it's out or not out.

Dilshan did it in all formats. He was a better batsman than Ali and his spin was more accurate. In England I guess he was used as a 2nd spinner to Murali/Herath, in asia a 3rd spinner. Still bowled as many overs as Ali I imagine.

suspect Sanath Jayasuria is probably a better example of this.

Another one in modern cricket - Marlon Samuels.

Ravi Shastri started as a spinner too, I think he opened for a little bit. Mohammad Ajharuddin used to be a leggie as well if I recall correctly, although he never opened.

It was 1968 in a championship match at Glamorgan  Nottinghamshire need to quick runs the unlucky bowler was Malcom Nash

Here's a random thought...why didn't stokes come out with an ultra light bat instead of his normal one (which I assume is at least 2 lb 10).. wouldn't have made a difference, but surely with a 2 lb 6 oz bat, it would be much, much easier for him?

I had the same thought when watching the highlights. Presume he can only use NB bats and he doesn't have anything ridiculously light available.

Rashid at least looks like he's trying to bat like its a test match unlike Ali. Samit also out performed Ali by a mile. ECB will keep Ali but tbh, he's been shown up and out classed by these two guys

Patel is a very talented player but you have to play our best spinner if there is only one in the team-which is most of our games.
From what i see Samit has been the best spinner we have by a long way.
Which leaves selection after this tour in a bit of a mess,Ali has not bowled well for quite a while
I would take samit to SA and rashid also

Ansari is another level above imo, especially in terms of potential, is far younger as well at 23.

Doh!!!!

Lbw was close, definitely should have had a stumping.

Cracking first over from Rashid. If only he bowled 6 like that more often!
