Laver & Wood Special Reserve Hybrid Shape
« on: October 28, 2015, 01:52:50 PM »

Got myself a new bat for the 2015/2016 season with the Laver & Wood Special Reserve. Amazing bat, comes off like a champ, hybrid shape between a classic and special profile, Mid-low sweat-spot, weighs around 2.9 but picks up really well and feels very light. Also the green shield labels that don't cover much of the blade are awesome. Not really caring about the looks hence why I got the special reserve, but I personally think it looks amazing with the heartwood.
This is what I asked for

Grade 1 Performance Willow
Handle length: Short
Blade length: Standard
Handle type: Oval Cane
Weight: 2lbs 8 1/2ozs
Sweet spot: Mid - Low
Profile: 'Special / Classic hybrid'
Grips: One
Labels: Green Shield
Knock in: Yes

Drop dead gorgeous. Might get me a Laver next season... Hope you love the bat and for performance willow, that looks amazing. Mind if I ask you how much that set you back with shipping and knocking in?

This looks cracking mate, I just got mine back from a reshape and its growing on me more and more every day. Still not sure if it'll be my main bat next year but it's got a good chance! Loving the diamond grips that's james is using at the moment. Feels great in the hands. Have you weighed it yourself yet? Just wondering if you've suffered the dreaded weight gain. Mine was 2.13 after 6 months in this hemisphere! Hence why it had to go back for a trim.

Is it true they gain weight when they come over seas?

It cost me $450 AUS for the bat, $50 for shipping and $70 for knocking in. It has gained a little weight with when I got it was 2.8 1/2 and now 2.9 1/4, I'll see how much it gains over the season and may send it back for a workout with James at Laver & Wood

I didn't think it would happen but it really does. James said it's fairly common to gain or lose weight when sent out to drier or wetter locales respectively.

Any idea on how much weight gain a bat could potentially acquire upon arriving to the UK?

Lovely looking bat and certainly a lot cheaper than a lot of the bats knocking about at Greg Chappell or Kingsgrove sports

2-3 ounces on every bat I've had from them. And none have lost any once they've gained

Mine fluctuates throughout the year.

I can also get it down and keep it down for a few weeks by keeping it somewhere warm and dry for a few days
