After having negative feedback on the name Willow wood I've decided to change the name I've recently came up with the name Empire Cricket but my instinct feeling was it had bad connotations to slavery and in asking if anyone thinks this name wouldn't be a good idea

Much better! Come up with a good logo etc and that'll be alright. Might not sell so well outside England though ha.

Maybe a problem if you plan to sell abroad, particularly if you include a Union Jack in the design. Additionally, 'the Empire' is the dark side of the force so you could have a take on the Star Wars theme. Some brands including 'bosom bats' may seem totally tacky but some members on here like their stickers. It perhaps totally depends on what the stickers look like.
I have designed and made some stickers and I'm just waiting for fattus to post my blank Bulldog Spirit.

No I wouldn't put any flag on the logo the logo will be a Knights Helmet

Don't think many will think of slavery connections i think linked to the star wars theme could be a good suggestion

Additionally, 'the Empire' is the dark side of the force so you could have a take on the Star Wars theme.

The Empire as a collective is the legal law enforcement and political party of the Galaxy.

It is only the leader of this and his right hand man who are officially "dark side".

I'd stay away from a Star Wars theme of I were you, you'd only end up getting sued by George Lucas.

Not sure you can get sued for the word empire. Just because that's what the galactic empire is in Star Wars. There's empires in many many films and booksZ


More likely to get sued for using the word Jedi..... But doesn't seem that has happened.


Look at chase bats to, there green and red ones looks very "light side" "dark side" to me and they haven't been sued either.


But then I'm not entirely sure Disney watches cricket(Disney as Lucas has sold all his rights so has no ground to sue anyway)

If you go with a medieval/ancient history (Roman, Egyptian etc.) empire theme, you'll avoid any connotations with the British Empire. That said, whatever you settle on will ultimately depend on a cohesive, unique and clear design theme and/or logo that's executed well. Which takes time and investment. You get what you pay for. Settle on a theme, commission some options, draw up a short list. Don't rush it. Keep us posted. Plenty of free advice and opinion on here!

Bought a bulldog spirit off of fattus and made these stickers at work today. My kids like Star Wars so that was the theme. I decided on Sith because:
A. My surname is Smith so I could make it into SmITH by adding a small M.
B. We only had grey, black and red vinyl in stock.
I have shamelessly ripped off other people's ideas. Anyone with an Aldred or GM may spot them.
All feedback gratefully received.
