Slip or Gully ideally.

Failing that Mid on or Mid off.

My preferred spot is midwicket. However most of the time i end up fielding in deep fine leg or third man, since the captain wants me far away from his ears ... :D

I quite like Cover point, but I have been know to get distracted and end up next to extra-cover, having a nice little chat.

As close as is humanely possible, normally end up in a short cover/short mid-off area (suicidal yes)

i'm really not a fan of any position that gives you too much time to set your self before the ball arrives. Not a fan of being in the deep at all. I really enjoy cover though as i seem to get involved in a lot of the game, buy the time the bowler is delivering the ball i'm generally moving at a jog so find it easy to drop onto the quick singles or dive around trying to get at least something on this flashing cover drives. There is plenty of me so i have perfected the art of.. getting at least something behind the ball!

Got decent hands, so often get put in the slip which ends up kicking out one of the 'more experienced' members of the team. I hate slip because i'd prefer to be chasing leather around the dirt rather than sitting around in the cordon giving batsmen flak. Fortunately, managed to get captaincy this year so the covers are calling  :D

Wicket keeper for me! Cover or gully I enjoy if not wearing the gloves

I'm rapidly approaching the stage of where I can be hidden- generally gully or slip.

Slips or short cover. But anywhere asking as its offside, don't seem to pick ball up well on leg side.
Reaction catches tend to stay in. Having time to think I drop the f er.

I get out out though, I've never bottled a catch, always put 100% in to get there, and if I'm running full pelt and having to dive or slide to catch it I am not thinking to much. So took some absolutely blinders running round from long off.

I've dropped some very embarrassing sitters too mind

I loved fielding at slip and took the majority of catches, certainly more than everyone else. Then I split my webbing twice stopping balls that just dropped short. I then got put at mid off and took every catch. That unfortunately cemented my place there for the last few seasons, mostly doing long off to long off due to our ageing spin twins!!

Wait what? You cemented mid off???

In all the cricket I've played and all the teams ive played for, that's usually where the captain stands(see ball swing talk to bowlers etc) it's not really been a catching position.
You may get the odd wicket there but I don't understand what plans your bowler bowl to, to get catches at mid off???

Our two older guys bowled very accurate spun so would often get frustrated with big hits down the ground, plus I was mug enough to do long off to long off!

Certainly get lots of miscued drives heading your way too.

I split the webbing going for a reaction catch off a slog sweep at short mid wicket (was in there for top edges but it went very straight), very annoying injury, couldn't spread my hand for about 2 weeks without it bleeding again.
