Time out at Streaky's "date night" as thought it was important to post on this topic. I am sure (I hope) the long haired general wont be mad for too long, probably did her a favour, giving her a rest from my rubbish jokes.
Firstly, I can understand peoples point of view, especially when they see others posting pictures of bats that apear better looking than ones that they have received. I would love to say that every grade 1 has 20 grains with no blemishes but unfortunately I cannot and I wont. Willow is a natural product and as such there will be variations of grains/looks within grades. Our grade one will not have any blemishes in the playing area (face) but may containe them elsewhere. The problem that we have had is that the vast majority of the clefts have been chosen at the 400 density which means there has not been as much choice for clefts in that density, people that have opted for slightly heavier densities I would have more to choose from.
The grading system from the willow suplier is constantly changing and now (off the top of my head - so please do not quote me on this) a grade 1 cleft shall contain a minimum of 6 grains, across the cleft - not a bat ( a cleft is much wider) and will not contain blemishes in the playig area. That said we have still maintained our grading system and will continue to do so. There is always going to be a variation however across every grade and that will always be the case.
I select every single B3 cleft, and although I do not wish to comment about how other brands grade, I hope that I am fair, open and honest about our grading.
One thing I would say is bounce a ball on her and I bet you'll have a smile on your face.
