Excellent innings from door. Shame the way he went. Village running! Lol

I'd say he did everything but door it!

I have no idea, with 3 overs left Willey's dirty farmyard slogs are exactly what I want to see!!!

To be fair Jordan can hit a long ball too, I'll be proper made if the send Rashid in ahead of him too!

Whenever he raises his bat, it causes my wood of another description to raise as the same time...

Urgh, agree completely. Fed up of having to watch Jordan, no idea what he's supposed to offer ahead of Rashid or Willey, and frankly I'd rather they picked Gary Balance as a specialist bowler.

Must be a hell of a net player!! Rashid has never let us down in the lower order at hits it to weird places. Got to come in before Jordan as that's far more effective

I've watched a lot of Smith in the last couple of years. To be honest I think Root is in a different class to Smith. With Smith's technique his purple patch will end and he will be back to being average.

Good player don't get me wrong, very good on current form but is he equipped to last long term?  :)
When exactly has Smith ever been 'average'? His first few Tests he was mugged off and played as a leg spinner. His batting record throughout all levels has been fantastic. Whether he maintains his average or not, he'll average 50+ when he's retires.

And I don't see Root being any class apart from Smith.

his batting and bowling(neither!!) is really good enough is it?

one thing I would say.....in recent years have you ever seen a better fielder in an England shirt?

Not sure really, I'd rather be in England's position though.

he's scored runs, and heavy ones at that, long term I think, and it's my opinion respecting yours of course, that he will not be the great player everyone thinks.

If you accept pitches are flatter, there's no so much quality around bowling wise(as compared to the 80's or 90's) then you can put 5-10 runs on an average these days.

He's a good player don't get me wrong, but ive seen all the Aussies over the last 30 years and this guy won't match up to your other excellent players-langar,waugh,pointing,hayden,hussey etc.....

I could be wrong of course
