Illingworth mate, TBH IMO these two are two of the better ones around. But the mistake has cost the Kiwis dearly.
About five minutes before I read you're post I was thinking how good an umpire Illingworth was, I've seen him quite a few times recently and he seemed to be getting most lbw's spot on but like I said I'd missed the Khawaja dismissal.

Watching Mark Craig bowling so many pies, maybe he should transform into a batsman instead.

Stunning C&B by big Corey to snare Lyon. 9/532, Voges 212*

Wish he'd have landed the somersault, would've been epic.

Adam Voges is finally dismissed for 239 by Mark Craig. 614 Test runs between this dismissal and second innings in Adelaide.

Hoping BMac can hit a 100 sometime tomorrow

Not a good test match in the end, pitch looked like it would serve up a beauty but only moved for a session or so :(

NZ got themselves out on it when it was doing a bit, so can't blame the wicket, batted like chumps and then the no ball wicket at cost 200+ runs..still, NZ were outplayed anyway regardless.

Please serve up a seaming wicket second test and bowl better and you'll win

This is typically what's been happening at the Basin in recent years. Green and lively on day 1 but quickly flattens out.

As for a green top at Christchurch I'm sure Hazlewood would be chomping at the bit

The luckless Dougie Bracewell has been ruled out of the second and final Test with a shoulder problem. Matt Henry and Neil Wagner competing to take the third seamers slot.

Peter Siddle has also been ruled out with his ongoing back injury. In Siddle's case it's the third time he's broke down in his last 4 Tests and at the wrong side of 30 Lehmann may well consign him to the scrap heap

Agreed with Siddle. A great servant to the Australian side and often underrated but with this being the last test match they play until the back end of the year (I believe?) I think his time is up. Especially with injuries to others (Pattinson, Starc, Cummins etc) clearing up in the longer term.

Looking forward to the second test, hope New Zealand pull off a win as a send off for McCullum.

It's a shame that Siddle has been treated so poorly in recent times. Naturally with his pace dropping he's not really suited to sub continental conditions. But the last Ashes series was a farce. After Harris, Siddle is the only one whom can actually bowling economically. But Boof was pace obsessed and didn't select Siddle.

With Starc due back soon. Cummins bowling rapidly when he's not injured. Pattinson also bowling quickly. It's seems unlikely Siddle gets much of a stiff.

As for BMac, I really hope he gets a farewell hundred...double hundred  :D

I like Pattinson, but he's a 4-50 man or 0-100 @ 5 an over

@Aussie In England, what is the situation regarding cummins?, he looked seriously good on the few occasions I've seen him but he seems plagued by injuries.

Problem with Pat Cummins is that he burst on to the scene as a very young man. He was 16 and still in school and bowling 145+. He was fast tracked to play for NSW. By 17 he was clocked at 155kph. He promptly made his Test debut at 18. As of yet there have been no more Test caps.

That aside, he should've been better managed as a youngster. At 16-21 your body isn't fully developed and bowling 150+ put massive stress and strain on his body. Had he been restricted to just limited overs cricket until his body developed.

He's hardly played any FC either. So his body doesn't know how to cope with 18-25 overs per day.

He might take 300 Test wickets or he might never play another Test. If it's the latter the world will miss out on a fabulous talent.
