Well that was a total thrashing...too late to make any changes I would think so close to the World Cup

Roy hasn't really done anything(I thought he would) and do we need two spinners ?
Vince and Wiley might get in the final 11 after all?

No, but our batting line up is not the issue. Yes Roy is not in form at all, but his role is to go hard from ball one. Reality is any bowling attack of Topley, Jordan and Willey is not going to compete in the toughest cricketing environment of a T20 world cup where bowlers have to be special eg Starc, experienced, or extremely clever/canny to succeed. I would back our batting line up that was put out today to give us a chance in any game.

Yes but at least you would have Wiley in as the left armer? He swings it back and can def bat, he's opened before in t20....
It's giving us more options with the bat and no weakening the bowling.am I missing something?
is topley that much better than Wiley? To me they are about the same bowling wise

I agree with David Willey, yes he is a big hitter and a useful bowler to boot. Perhaps we can find another batting option to replace Mo? That would allow us to have

Hales
Roy
Root
Morgan
Stokes
Buttler
Billings
Rashid
Willey
Overton
Overton
(12th man Trego)

I may or may not be a Somerset fan. When I say toughest cricketing environment, in a completely different sense to Test cricket, both polar opposite forms of the game with completely different skill sets, mentalities, and ways of how you would describe the environment as being 'tough'. If the ultimate deciding factor is success, surely it is tougher (or at least equally as tough) to succeed in a tournament where anyone can beat anyone (within reason eg the minor teams aside like UAE), where any team can win a tournament if they get a bit of momentum, and there are therefore so many hurdles you have to get over to get your hands on the final prize? I think so, and if it isn't a tough environment (like any world sporting tournament) why have England only won 1 world limited overs trophy..?

And when we beat Sri Lanka and Pakistan this summer will hold all test trophies available to us? That includes the ashes... Better than a side full of flat track bullies

Chill out.

It's 2020, enjoy it when it goes well and enjoy it when it goes like today. Today was just as fun because it was amusing how they got out and then Amla and ab teed off. Don't take it so seriously Aussie lad. Jezzz

On the two spinners point, I suspect two spinners is a must in India? Which is where the t20 world cup is.

Yes I see that... But if you were picking the team would you pick your best bowler who happens to be a seamer or a spinner just because you are playing in India?

Let's be frank...other countries have better spinners than we do at this moment.in fact Swann was the exception to the rule for England.i think rash I'd we should back but I don't see Ali having much impact.

England's seamers were our best bowlers against Pakistan in uae- spin friendly wickets

I enjoyed watching this match for various aspects ...

Root - It's nice to see root attacking. I like this version !
Butler - Dumbstruck ! He swings around his bat like a twig ....
Morgan - Nice big sixes. Real treat to watch when he really gets going ...
Amla - Where did the aggression come from ?? He was batting as if some it was training drill ... hit the ball between the three cones only on off-side.
ABD - Freak show ... He stands between the T20 WC and any team who wants it !

For England - this was probably a bad loss. They really wanted a win before getting back home. None of their batting failures seem like a problem to me, don't forget the fact the T20 WC in India with plenty of flat tracks and it would be a batsman's paradise. Roy, Hales etc just need one good innings to get their mojo back. Spinners are the problem .. Must rely on pace attack to do the heavy lifting in flat/spin friendly tracks.

What's Chris Jordan in the side for?

Serious re-thinks are in order before the WT20

Isnt he in the side purely because finn is being rested before the world cup?

Surely youd would want a slightly similar stand in? Maybe Footitt or someone?
