Come into a slight issue with mine.

My dyson!


It has a valve that opens when it detects a blockage, so it sucks the grip a quarter of the way and then. Boom, the valve opens and all pressure lost.

I need to find a shot Hoover or a vacuum pump.

Well,  I have now acquired a vacuum pump from the Bay of E for the princely sum of £35 and its works brilliantly! The most difficult part is getting the grip stretched over both ends of the tube (I used 45mm tubing which may be too small for double grips, I hope not but time will tell)

For anyone else trying to do something similar I bought a 3CFM 1/4hp pump and its more than powerful enough. They seem to go for anything between £25 and £55 but if you hang around you can get one at a reasonable price.

This whole thing has cost me about £50 which includes pump, metal, welding, paint and felt base protector (so it doesn't scratch the Mrs' kitchen table!),  which is probably more than most people would want to spend but as this is going to be used by a number of people I wanted to build something fairly robust.

I purchased a small vacuum pump in an attempt to make a small carry round item. Unfortunately I either have a leak or the pump isn't good enough.

I bought a 12v compressor, and epoxy welded a 4mm output to the air intake. Keeping the compressor function, but allowing for a vacuum to take place. Hopefully. Epoxy drying as we speak.

Ignore the long stainless tube and the excessive clear pipe. My stainless cutter is in the van so it's just like this for testing. Pipes will be curt down and meet each other were they currently are.


Idea was that's a 12 volt vacuum pump, so was gonna firstly have a fag lighter wire on it to use from your car, and at a latter date retro fit it with a 12 volt rechargeable battery.

Quite compact, not heavy and just makes abit of noise.











But currently struggling to get enough pull to stretch a grip enough.
Not sure if there's a leak, the tubing is to long, or the pump just isnt manly enough.

Hoping to do more testing next weekend.
