Well i may have quite a number of bats but not much compares to my favourite shape and bat my uglier Tonto which was made in a batch of two.

Well opened it up and used double width fiberglass tape and twine off another bat a bit of bat glue and hey presto.

No clamp insight also used a kitchen knife to open it up no proper tools at all!!

As you see done in my kitchen to the annoyance of my wife!!!!

It has worked i'm glad to say i value all my bats and try to look after them

Bit of a side theory is my own thought, be careful using mega grain bats on the machine i'm convinced with the lack of sap and also the heartwood they are more prone to delamination due to the compound nature of the balls on the machine(maybe me setting it always on half vollies as well).

Anyway back to what i love doing the best messing with bats!!!

I think if you used them initially it ok however i have seen too many delaminated through over use like i said i think it to to do with more grains make it stiffer from the off and lack of sap and the face pulls off.

The bat was worth saving

I've found the best way to prolong a bats life is to never hit anything with it (that's my excuse, and I'm sticking with it!)

Relative to Bola, no. You keep hitting same spots with Bola. Real balls and real bowlers are not so consistent.

The Kooka bowling machine ones do far less damage to the bat. I think their made of rubber

Hard balls damage bats but with Bola, it is a hard ball hitting consistently in the same areas...

Not all practice ruins bats. Practice with hard, cheap balls, and Bola will do the trick though. People should buy several net bats, it'd be a smart investment. Sometime hard-pressed bats make great net bats too. No Bola, cheap balls would make a dent in those bats. 

Here in my hands (technically on the trunk), are bunch of old leather balls and a Bola ball. Guess which one is harder?

I'm safe to use a Bola then, I could face the same ball 4 times, and would use the inside edge, the outside edge, the toe & miss one. (Not necessarily in that order!)

Some say I'm a crap batsman, but it's actually a well thought out plan to make my kit last longer!

obviously practising with ball which have no leather left on them help the life span of your bat...
