Yesterday was bit of a first for me, evening fixture in April albeit a friendly. Things didn't start too promising as I appear to have lost both my jumpers. Anyhow I arrived hoping to start nearer to 5.45pm than 6pm but the lack of a set of stumps and some of our players prevented this. Opposition gave me a choice of batting or bowling first so chose the latter as knew it would be dark later on but at least as the batsmen would have the benefit of sight screens. Brought myself on first change for one over which could best be described as "mixed" but got a wicket so happy enough with that. In the end 8 people bowled, including someone who got a hat-trick. We then chased down 107 with 9 balls to spare, close game although there were a couple of big overs in the middle of our innings which certainly helped us reach the target more comfortably. Match played in very good spirit and everyone on both sides got to bat or bowl which is what the match was really about.

Went up to give the wicket a roll and outfield a cut...neither of which were particularly successful.

Roller ran out of diesel and wouldn't then restart, tractor kept clogging up due to the grass being wet and then wouldn't pull away again once unclogged the gangs.

Eventually got the roller back in the shed after towing it off the wicket with the tractor! Let's hope it's not a sign of things to come tomorrow 🙈

As far as debuts for a new club go, mine was less than ideal! Bowled 2 overs for 24, got tonked by a left handed to a 20 metre boundary. And got a 2nd ball duck trying to pull a ball off my chest only to top edge it. But I took a catch, so onwards and upwards to next weekend 🏏🏏

First game, track look rock hard and dry, surprisingly with recent rain and lack of covers. Played okay getting a tad lower throughout the day.

I opened and got a nice 44(36 balls 5x 4's 1x 6s) me and he new partner also put in 44 before he fell lbw for 9.

Overal we scored 246 for 8 from our 46 overs.

Second innings was hard! It was so so cold, windy, dark and spitting with rain. I struggled to pick up the ball, batsmen struggled to score runs. Not a lot happened for first 18 overs, as oppo went to 40 for 0(one guy retired hurt, torn calf like pietersen!! Ouch). Break through lead to 3 wickets and we jd them 55 for 3.
They got to 80 odd for 3 before a collapse saw them 88 for 7, before there number 6 just tee'd off! At 165 for 8 with 9 left and then going at about 12 an over an exciting finished looked on.
But when an lbw fell and we remembered the injured opener. The full points were ours! Good opening day win.

Didn't feel too confident running into bowl on a ridiculously soft outfield with an untested ankle, but good to get a bowl and snag a couple of wickets at least! Came in with only a few overs left chasing and got off the mark for 2016 with a six thanks to being fed a lovely half tracker, but gloved one down the leg side a couple of overs later. Never mind, felt good at the crease while I was out there which is always nice preseason.

Got the game in despite the machinery issues in Friday, batted 1st and posted 211 off 37 overs. I managed to middle a few and retired on 66 off 40 to give the lower order some time in the middle.

Fielding was tricky as body had undergone rigamortis after having to run a fair few 2's and 3's. They struggled to 120 odd of their 40 overs for 9 down. Nice to get back out and get a game in though.

A lazy day today beckons as everything aches 🙈

Lost by 1 run - 13 overs 3-30 but only got 7 with the bat - nice short ball that shot a long the floor, great! I knew the old boy umpire really well and I've never seen someone be so apologetic for giving you out lbw

First game of the season back at my old club again.
Bowled the oppo out for 77. Chased it 3 down. Wicket was up and down scratched a 9 not out to see it through.

First game of the season yesterday. Had a good winter and was looking forward to the season ahead!

Dislocated my knee on the 6th ball I faced.  F*cking sh*t w*nk b*llocks.

N.B. Long live the NHS. Service has been fantastic from the very start and Mr Hunt can do one as these doctors/nurses/ambulance staff are priceless.

Having broken my thumb last week I echo these sentiments 100%
I know a lot of people moan about the NHS, but my limited experience with them (couple of breaks and a few minor surgeries) it's absolutely brilliant. Jeremy Hunt needs to replace the H in his name with a C, then go f*ck himself as far as I'm concerned.

Hope you're fully fit again soon mate, keep us posted on your recovery

Managed to get away with 8 overs for 40 runs againsta better side yesterday, playing for the 2XI.

The in-duckers were coming out nicely, but the floaty straight-onners were fodder. Picked a couple of catches and a good base to refine my bowling from.

Roll on next week.
