Yes mate. Firsts lost again. Pitch at Godmanchester was reported too for being dangerous.

Blimey AK XI isn't a bad scalp to take!

We got run close by Nassington 2nd's, helped out by our opener hitting 186!

And i've heard Goddy is a bit dodgy!

If we're at full strength like yesterday we'd be expecting to win this league, unfortunately the 1s need 2-5 from the 2s most weeks.

186?? That's some knock!

Apparently there was a ball at Goddy from their spinner which hit a length and went over the keepers head for 4 byes!

Bore draw helped by some appalling umpiring. Two games in a row I've had clear catches given not out, this time oppo opener smashed it into his pad and was caught at gully, started to walk then stopped. Also two very adjacent lbws turned down, two catches dropped at slip off me, a very frustrating day really. Also got a lecture on the lbw laws about appealing when a batter was hit outside off 'playing a shot' when he hid his bat behind his pad.

We batted first and got 267/7 from 50. Openers put on 160, then we all had a bit of fun. I smacked 15 quickly but am now in trouble with the club chairman for being caught reverse sweeping when id just pulled and driven fours off the same bowler. Apparently I was 'batting like a god, smashing everything' before messing it up, but the shot was on, just a mishit! Opened the bowling and over 2 spells got 14/5/29/2, one lbw that the ump finally gave, the other a tasty bowled, drifted across the leftie opener then spun back from outside off to take middle stump. Penn showed no interest in chasing our total on a rapid outfield, only got to 170 from response, which means we've both done taplow a massive favour in the table.

Sure have, we smashed Coleshill as I'm sure you expected us to. We got 230 odd, rolled them for 60. Should have been less as they were 25-7. We now have a bowler keeping wicket as I'm out probably for rest of season, back up keeper on holiday for 4 weeks and 2nd team keeper apparently refusing to play 1s because he wants to win div 2 batting award...I'm sure most people on here will have a similar view on that as I do.

Yaya has brought a mate along for rest of season, first game in 4 years yesterday and he's quite sharp! Used to play for Ealing and Portsmouth before he did a cruciate ligament. Only played as guy pulled out yesterday morning but now wants to play rest of season so fingers crossed he does!

Think we have you boys on Saturday? Should be up to either umpire or score as finger is better and bonus being that the wife gave birth earlier today and a week earlier than due date - result!

Cue earlier, I hate cricket. Put oppo in and some awful bowling/fielding got them 293. Still fuming at a complete lack of others failing to attack the ball and chase down so many shots that went for 4. Took a catch at silly mid on.

Came in to bat at 23-5, bowled for 1. Not surprised since I've not had a bat since May and feel like my only option going into a dire situation is swinging and saying ah eff it

Third duck in a row. On the verge of calling it quits for this season. :(

Weird couple of weeks for our first and seconds.
Last Saturday we scored 233-3 off 40, my own contribution was 27* whilst helping our number 3 to his maiden ton, but then we bowled really poorly and allowed the opposition to chase it down with 1 over to spare. Dropped their opener 3 times too and he finished 70* whilst a couple of their other lads biffed it all over the place. I took a couple of catches, but bowled 0-42 off 5. Everything just went wrong. The 2s couldn't raise a side for their Saturday game.
On the sunday I played for our 2s in their T20 cup quarter final. I made 10 (trying the dab to 3rd man and snicked off to the keeper), out of our total of 119-8 thanks to some late order hitting. They made a flying start and in the end needed 8 off 2overs with 5 wickets in hand.... 8 balls later we had won by 6 runs. 4 run outs and a catch in 8 balls. Never seen batting like it. I managed to be involved in the game winning run out which was good, also took 1-24 off 4.

This Saturday I won the toss again and decided to bat. When we were 35-5 and then 122 all out I cant imagine any of my teammates where particularly pleased with me. Only got 1 too (snicked off again) which didn't help. The opposition smashed us all over the place and where 78-2 after 11. But slowly me and our leggie clawed it back and we ended up bowling them out for 99. Was pretty chuffed to take 5-8 off 7. I managed to get their opener out who got about 60 of their 78 so that made it even better.
Our 2s couldn't get a side out again but that was mainly due to a village wedding, so hopefully we can change that and get them back to winning ways as well next week.

Played our Sat league fixture today away at Maldon CC (Alaister Cooks home club) this was due to my club having a touring saide fixture yesterday so we always play one of a sat games on a Sunday.

Anyway first time Iv ever plagued at Maldon and what a nice ground with a lovely wicket, rock hard with good pace and carry. We won the toss and batted, was slow going earler doors with the opener and I being 30-0 after 10, my partner was then out to first change bowler and then No3 and myself out on 123 for 2nd wicket. We ended up 258/5 with me scoring my first ton for my new club, out for 111 trying to smash opening bowler into the pavilion. Also my first Ton in 2 seasons after a shocking season with the bat last year.

In reply our opening bowlers where just to quick for them and they ended up 97 all out with opening bowlers taking 7 of the wickets. Still unbeaten and what a lovely ground to play at on a cracking day weather wise

Maybe declare on 240 to tempt them next time. Not their fault if they thought you'd scored to many. Too quick to blame draw cricket or Oppos. Maybe you scored to many to make it a worthwhile chase, poor skippering

Kinda like leading by 400 and batting again.

The more I think about it, I like draw cricket. It forces teams to be good at both skills. If you can't bowl them out, you don't deserve to win. Shame we play win/lose, would like to give it a go to see if it's as frustrating as people make out.

It can be frustrating but generally it's usually because one team scores too many and doesn't have the bowling to back it up. Win/lose is about economy, draw is economy but also wickets. If you can't take wickets you won't win. Win/lose you just blast runs and wait for the batsmens to get themselves out. Far less skill and tactics

@meats yep, though I'm probably playing seconds as I have a wedding reception in the evening!
@ProCricketer1982 they never had any intent to chase, they were 70 points clear in the league before yesterday, and could have chased it as they made a steady start and their top bat who was playing came in at 5 against a nearly new ball on a rapid outfield.
Didn't help that the pitch died a bit, but there was no positivity in their innings.
