Had another decent game this afternoon despite the odd brief shower. We won the toss and elected to bat first, I came in at No.5 to join our No.3 who used to be a fantastic cricketer but hadn't played a competitive cricket match for 9 years. Turns out he's still got it as we put on an unbroken stand of over 100 but he agonising finished on 96no when the innings closed. I got 35no in a rather more quiescent manner but after a few runs last Sunday, I am finally feeling a bit more confident.  Anyhow we ended up on 171-3 which I thought might be enough.

In reply we let our youngsters open the bowling and despite one of them picking up an early wicket, they were unusually wayward which allowed the opposition to reach 50 by only the 8th over. My introduction initially applied the breaks but my downfall was getting a wicket as this brought to the crease a very aggressive batsman (in terms of batting style, not personality) who had some early luck then cashed in big style. Unfortunately the visitors didn't lose another wicket and they ended up winning by 8 wickets with a few overs to spare.

Lost again today, very poor from us, fielding was dire, really let ourselves down but next week we go again.
On a positive note I broke the club record for wickets in a season today, took my 63rd wicket with 7 games still to go. So hopefully can get to 75+ to end the season would be a great way to finish

Managed to play yesterday! Bowled Tewkesbury out for 85- they werent that great but our bowling was fantastic (for once!!). Managed to end my run of ducks with 57* which im happy with! With AIW and Cheltenham Civil Service both abandoning games due to rain we go back to the  top with 2 league games left!

Had a decent run of form (50 retired(lms) 50 retired(lms) 48, 1, 0, 73, 50 retired(lms) and 50 yesterday).
Add my first real bowl for a few seasons and I took 3 for 20.

Unfortunately it didn't help our team and I'd rather have won as a team than achieve individual stuff.

So due to a team being expelled from the league we went from chasing top, to being top, albeit with a game in hand.
Yesterday came. Rain forecast. We was inserted, sky's looked grim. I decided to tee of and am for a score our skipper could declare on.

I took 18 off the second over(losing 2 balls), and when I was out for 50 we was 72 for 2 after 8 overs.
Things slow down and when the rain came we was 147 for 6 with 16 overs left.

Early tea, covers off, Covers on covers off covers on. News in our title rivals had bowled oppo out for 64 and knocked them off already. We needed a win! our skipper had enough and said. Sod it we declare.

6pm and we get back on.

3 rd ball there opener gets a vicious bouncer to glove, steps back, wind picks up and he flattens his stops.
2 catches in next over and there 8 for 3 looking good,

Guy comes in(much in the style of me) and tees off, lots of half chances, a few drops(off the fog in opener, and they move to 112 for 3. Still 23 overs left!

I get asked to bowl, and our top allrounder comes on at the other end. Some good right overs and wickets crumble.

There dig in opener tried to duck my slower ball and it Chris reads him! And I did a I ran Tahir lap off the pitch.
And 2 balls later the leftie tried to smash my super slow ball and just processed in top edging it back to me.

We got them 8 down, they needed 12 to win and the news one of there players had gone to work so it was the last wicket.

Unfortunately guy at other end had ran out of overs so we bought back on our opener, with a very wet spongey ball, he bowled 4 wide's and 2 four balls and the game was down. 10 overs left and one wicket needed.

A valiant effort but not enough, and the title has probably gone without a miracle for another ek season. Oh well. A decent game made by the declaration, just a shame we lost.

My team managed to get promotion yesterday, but it was the most frustrating game I have ever played. We were 100 points clear at the top and the team we played were 15 points off second place.

We batted first and declared after 44 overs on 164, giving them 48 overs to chase down our total. In our league there is no incentive to draw, it works out exactly the same as a loss- so we expected them to have a good go at chasing down our total. Instead they started blocking out from ball 1 and never even attempted to make a serious effort to chase the total. We ended up getting them 70-9 and just couldn't quite get that last wicket.

Basically they gave up their promotion hopes to stop us winning a game that didn't really matter to us, we will still be champions next week!

Normally it effects people in their middle ages and during change on seasons when air pressure changes. Effectively you lose your balance and effectively stagger around like a drunk. Takes 2-3 weeks to clear up and you can't drive so no work  :D.  Takes a bit longer to play again as you need to properly regain your balance for running.

Good weekend.  Won Saturday after being under pressure at 34-3, @19reading87 and huss put 150 for the 4th wicket and got us to 202-6. Redders got 50 odd and protected his red inker by running me out off the last ball of the innings not taking a single to the keeper  ;). When they were 146-2 with 10 overs to go I thought we were heading for defeat but we broke a partnership and then they collapsed to 180 ao.  I helped myself to 5-37 just by bowling straight and hitting the stumps.  Big win as we are now 2nd with two games to go!

Sunday the oppo got 176 ao and we were 61-3 when rain came. It was a massive dustbowl and I found plenty of help to collect 4-11 off my 8.

Settle for weekend figures of 17.3-4-48-9  :D

Well batted mate!
Must have felt good when you got there

Which side did you play for?
Did you win most importantly? Sweet feeling to get a hundred in a winning cause knowing your runs won the game!

We won comfortably as it started to pelt it down, but my ring finger is royally screwed up from attempting to the catch running in from deep midwicket. Guys in the team said it's just super swollen but considering how fat it looks I'm inclined to think otherwise, plus I can't bend it at all. Definitely good as a left handed person who works in IT....
