No point  in turning up playing and paying to not enjoy it

Apparently not according to most here. You should enjoy turning up to be abused/get no game etc . Heaven forbid you want to actually get people playing and staying in the game.

The first team should fulfil the first team fixtures. Its hard sending juniors to play (especially away fixtures) when the real club men should stand up and be counted. No one of good club standing should pick and choose. You play for your club regardless of opposition. I say this as a bloke who has captained a club this season to relegation because of "home only ponies" and lads saying I dont like playing against x.

Respect your club even if you dont respect theirs.

Not enjoying  leads to people stop playing.

So you suggest not turning up altogether? Makes perfect sense - I'm sure a bunch of 13 year olds would much prefer the experience!

No enjoyment and pointless  in spending the afternoon being abused by the opposition  because you are a good  clubman.
For me the good clubmen  are the ones who put the time and effort in through the winter attend meetings etc and get everything ready for match day not the ones who turnup and play

Following from last week my finger wound up being dislocated and has been in a splint all week. Taken it off when showering and can barely move it so I reckon 2016 is over.   :(

What's your own standards got to do with how opposition behave?

Personally, I think that'd be a game where you get your whole first team in and have bloody good laugh with each other! If the result doesn't matter (as seems to be the case), then who cares what the other team has to say, reverse the batting order, make everyone bowl an over in the first ten. Then get on the beers and have a quality Saturday night, job done.

Managed to squeeze a game in yesterday when most others couldn't due to rain.
Didn't have 11 again so 8 adults and 2 juniors (one of whom its his 2nd league game ans the other it was his debut) took to the field against a strong team pushing for promotion. I kept wicket for the first time this season, had a catch turned down for I don't know why and concede no byes. I've also opened the bowling on a few occasions this year, that's gotta be a rare happening?
After furious calculations a target was set, I opened up getting my first 50 for my new club before snicking off, we lost regular wickets and just couldn't quite get over the line to claim victory.
1 game to go and 5 points separate the bottom 3, we're away at the newly crowned champions next week. We'll give it a good crack but with the player struggles and juniors playing relegation may not be the worst thing to happen.

No one is interested in playing them, sad but true. Can't force people to play teams who regardless of the result its un enjoyable.

While i think the regular 1st team should play and win i hope none of the other players / juniors endure a bad experience and then drop out of playing as a result of next weeks fixture because then the decision to not play would be detrimental to your whole approach and philosophy

Yeah because sending a bunch of 13 year olds to play against top of the league and get smashed about is a real good way to keep people playing the game

Played a game today, sunday cricket at its finest as @Sivlar13 will confirm. We play for enjoyment, and just good fun.
Kept the oppo to 220, which I think we would of chased down. Took 1-45 off my 10, took 2 catches amd dropped a dolly on the run.
Then the rain ruined the fun

Agreed. There are a couple of teams we always have agro with yet we always send our 1st team there as it's a 1st team game. Sending a team full of kids to get abused and no doubt stuffed is only going to lead to some of those kids not playing anymore.

Started their innings with 3 slips and a gully, finished their innings with 3 slips and a gully - how proper Sunday cricket should be played.
