Have any of you considered just turning up to play, ignoring the sledging and having a nice hot mug of man the **** up at the tea interval?  ;)

Yes, I'm sure after serving abroad in conflict I need some of that. Sigh

I was speaking to a mate of mine who works for the ecb as an analyst, if you can get in the oppo's head then your already 1-0 up. Look at how effective it is for Conor McGregor in the UFC, he talks the talk and backs it up. If your gonna play a game that revolves around your mental ability, then be prepared to have them try get in your head, just prove your a better player by not biting

I reckon we need to pencil this game in next season as a forum squad game, we'll all play for Cheltenham Civil Service against Tewkesbury, then get on the beers round Cheltenham, I'll take a bit of abuse for a weekend away!

Not a bad idea ! You'd be most welcome to do it. Might even stump up a few jugs

We get very little, one bowler is particularly bad but as soon as you front him up he calms himself right down! I dragged on yesterday to a lad who got a bit too excited so I made sure I walked 3/4 of the way up the wicket towards him before I walked off! He put his head straight down and shut right up. If you handle it well it's not really an issue, panic and they've got you

@Batbuddy99

I didn't want to over celebrate, just a raised bat to my team. Very happy I have got my 1'sr (of many) to prove to myself I have the ability and patience to bat. 125 in 120 balls(thanks @Jaffa for the kraken!. I'm a very happy boy (who can't walk atm).

#scaynes hill cc

Wow! Well done mate. Good to hear it's gone to a good pair of hands. I bet it sounded nice. Shame about the injury though. Tough luck.

But as for the Kraken, it just goes to prove you can never have enough bats. ;-)

Won yesterday to put us second, 15 points clear of chelt civil service and level on points with AIW. AIW have a better net run rate unfortunatly!

Need @ProCricketer1982 's 2nd team to beat AIW so we can win the league! Which i believe we deserve. Also would just like to say Tewkesbury's  first team are a bunch of cheating ...... Not quite as bad as AIW tho!!

Hopefully the 2's will do the job for you guys. As you say, AIW haven't got a good rep either.

Also saw Tewkesburys slogger who opens got found out as I'm sure it wasn't a flat track for him to biff.. We have them next week in the last league game but I'm not bothering to play (neither are most of the 1xi) as they are unpleasant and it's simply not enjoyable. We'd rather conceded or send a load of jnrs and give them a free game

Have to say I much preferred this wicket to flat roads as it takes skill and patience to score on but I'm sure players who just biff through the line would disageee.

Got to admit having a good laugh at this - first xi cricket isn't meant to be a tea party - it's meant to be played hard and you never know with the occasional bloke giving it a little slap and tickle at the end!

I'm not advocating this in second xi cricket or county league div five etc, but Jesus in the premier leagues it's about mental disintegration and fair play this side have won as the adults, the so called best players are running away and sending the kids over. Well I say fair play to the kids - at least they've got the minerals to play

Cheered me right up - don't think I've heard such crap before

sigh, you really just don't get it.  It's not about having balls..having minerals.. If you really think cricket even at pro level requires minerals then you know nothing. It's got nothing to do with fronting up, having bottle. It's our hobby as amateurs ffs, not a battlefield. You are simply showing how deep rooted the issue is.
