he was publically backed by Farbrace prior to this test. I think he will get the next match as well,
We can't be too quick disguarding players, if you get picked in the first place there's a reason. If you trust the judgement of the selectors you have to back it.

To be fair to the selectors in recent years, they have got a lot right. Heaven forbid we go back to the 80's when just about everyone was playing their 'last innings before the chop'

without wishing to start off a aussie in England/IJC/GerrySA style ruck on a Friday afternoon, Ian Bell ? if England make a change that is....... :) :)

I'm going to be even more controversial....I LIKE GARY BALLANCE

Agree completely @ppccopener, he isn't looking in great nick but got picked for a reason, should definitely get the next test.

In the event he goes, don't see many options screaming to get picked at 3 and don't like throwing a debutant in there in any case. Robson? Picking an opener at 3 has worked plenty of times before.

Robson does look to be in fine form! And having an opener isn't the worst call in case Hales or Cookie take an early shower!
I would love to see Compo get a big one, but he isn't looking good on current form! And if one of the bowlers was bowling pies and looked in dire form, he would be rested pretty quickly.....

just saw the replay... don't think compton's shot was "reckless". 80+ mph, you don't really plan or pre meditate..your instincts take over. the ball was short, he played a hook - have seen Root get out like that too.

just bad luck imo. though his days are likely numbered.

Has anyone noticed that Joe Root has the word 'Village' stickered across the back of his bat?

Hahahahahahahahahahaha!
