If Buttler batted like this, he would have stayed in the test team.

Unfortunately he seems lost against the red ball

Totally different game white ball to red ball. You can't take anything from white ball form to red. Bowlers haven't got silly restrictions  and generally are higher quality

Buttler hasn't got the technique for red ball.. Accept it

David Warner, B-Mac & KP seem to transfer skills just fine?

As much as I love a leave. I don't think Red ball is all about plodding.

Buttler is no warmer
Or KP

Bmac wasn't that good at tests but he was also better than buttler

Took the words out of my mouth.

Yes, there is a slight change in the tactics in red ball cricket such as fielding positions and perhaps player quality.

I think the problem is the English players feel that they have to change the way they play for test cricket, whereas Warner, McCullum and co just go hard, they don't seem to have a fear of failing and when it comes off they put their team in a great position early on.

And a T20 to round it all off. Excited to see Mills have a go

I wanted to see Malan open with Roy myself!
And put Buttler in at 6 with Billings missing out.

Happy to see Billings personally, harsh on Malan but realistically he's only backup at best for the top three with Roy/Hales/Root/Vince all ahead of him at present. Think Billings is only a few breakthrough innings away from being a real force in t20.

Like the experiment with Buttler up the order too! He can be a bit wasted at times at 6 in t20 so good to see England trying him out up top, even if opening rather than 3/4 isn't what you'd expect. Why not though, he scores enough runs when he only has 10 overs to bat in, give him 20 overs to play with and hope for fireworks.

Oh and so glad Mills is finally in an England shirt. There's no sight in sport like a seriously rapid bowler.

Some shocking cricket from SL. Losing that many wickets against spin!
Disappointing Sri Lanka batted first, won't be chasing much

I was just thinking the same.

I can only assume that "Yes" and "No" sound very similar in Sinhalese.

Bit of a kick in the teeth for young Malan when he's worked hard as an opener to earn an international call up, only to be snubbed in favour of a mad slogger like Buttler. Who's technical skill is minimal

This would be 'young' Malan who's several years older than Buttler and in fact the third oldest member of the England squad? Try harder ;)
