Duncan Fearnley The Forgotten Brand Or Just Neglected

Duncan Fearnley Was Iconic And One Of The Most Sort After Major Brands To Have Along With Gray Nicolls In The 1970s & 1980s With Such Legends Of The Game As Ian Botham, Viv Richards, Alan Border, Graeme Pollack In Their Stable. But Unlike Gray Nicolls, Duncan Fearnley Seems To Have Been Either Neglected, Forgotten About Or Left Behind In The Modern Game. Duncan Fearnley Got It Right Several Years Ago When They Re Introduced The Retro Range With The Magnum, Attack 5 Star Range Especially After The Rather Dismal Designs Of The 90s And Early 2000s. But Where Are They Now, Forgotten? Ignored? Or Maybe Just Behind The Times In A Very Demanding And Competitive Modern Market.

it is 3 for 2 hence the four star grade is £300 for 3.

I think think things changed when the company moved from its small Batmaking unit to its current site and incorporated clothing and other kit etc moving towards selling club kits and clothing to the public. Playing around Worcester you still see plenty DF bats being used.
Also you can get a bat made to your specs from £200.00 and observe t being made.
For anyone interested in Batmaking   or an educational schools  etc visit the bat making tour is worth underitaking but you need to ring first and make an appointment.

I had a DF as my very first bat. I do like the look of the retro range and they seem ok value however I have never seen one being used for the last 15 years or so.

I was tempted last year by the Attack 5* and during the sale at £150 I thought it was worth trying. The profile has a lot of concaving which is a bit too much for my preference. I like the look of the retro stickers and the performance has been decent if not spectacular from mine. Tend to get comments from the opposition as most people have not seen one for years. I have been using my wet weather bat so far this season and that has been going well so likely to stay in the bag until I play badly and need to blame my equipment

This is a question only Fearnley management can answer. Owning one was a dream during my school and college days but by the time I could afford one, the brand had almost vanished from the market. When I asked a local dealer who used to sell DF they told me that nobody wants these anymore. I bought a Fearnley 5* when they started marketing the retro range again a few years back. Was quite surprised to see that the concaving on one side the spine was a lot deeper than on the other side.

^ completely agree. Starting playing in the mid-80s, a magnum was completely unattainable, though I do remember a school mate having a low-end attack that was way too heavy for 12 year old kids!  I have a pair of the DF magnum green double finger gloves that sit in my study along with a couple of vintage bats. It's such a shame that the DF brand, which was so iconic in English cricket, has fallen from grace. The magnum in this thread looks great, but I don't think I'd ever buy one (unless there's some upcoming stonking reviews!)

I had a DF in the late 70's when they were one of the most sort after bats in SA with Graeme Pollock promoting them.
The guy I bought it from was 10 years older than me a cop and then borrowed and I never saw him or my bat again the b@st@rd.. but incredible middle and pickup.

Maybe no longer  sponsoring test stars on the world stage did the brand no favours particularly the English  ones Botham Hick etc

I remember owning either attack or colt in my younger years.i loved it pretending I was beefy.That magnum in the pictures looks beautiful. Surely I can't justify another bat though... .
