would love Chawla to make it tbh :)

Piyush Chawla is a spent force at the age of 21! He was another talented youngster thrusted into the International arena to soon. The main problem for Chawla is the lack of a big ripping leg break and he's obsessed with his wrong un. He usually bowls a googly an over, sometimes even 2 or 3 googlies an over. The only chance Chawla has if he turns himself into an all-rounder(I mean a proper all-rounder, someone averaging 40 with the bat and under 30 with the ball), which isn't going to happen as his batting is far to gung ho and he doesn't bat to the situation.

Chawla is destined to follow other Indian leg spinners, whom where selected too soon i.e. Laxman Sivaramakrishnan and Narendra Hirwani.

Hes only 21 bear in mind, youre talking as if his career is over and he has no hope of being selected again! Hes a very talented cricketer as the Sussex faithful will back me up im sure, i think he took 37 wickets in 6 fc games this year so hes obviously doing something right. Much like Rashid its about homing his skills consistently. He isnt a 'spent force' yet, we can only pass those judgements at the end of his career.

Adrian Barath
Phillip Hughes
Tim Paine (WK)
Josh Cobb
Umar Akmal (C)
Shakib Al Hasan
Shaun Marsh
Angelo Mathews
Wayne Parnell
Mohammed Aamer
Shirwin Ganga

Umar Akmal captain? He has no captaincy experience, Shakib is a better pick! And Sherwin Ganga for t20 only! Josh Cobb is yet to go big at FC level, perhaps James Taylor/Sam Northeast wouldve been a better shout. Can i also throw in Shiv Thakor, almost selected for Leicestershire 1sts last season aged 15!

any team would have to have Raina and Kholi in it.. Both would make the middle order really strong plus they are good fielders.. Raina is a useful part time spin option also..

No offence, but English County cricketers are hardly world class players of leg spin. I mean Kaneria plays for Essex every year and gets truck loads of wickets, and he's an average International cricketer.

In India, an International career starts earlier than in England, Chawla debuted as a 17 year old, England wouldn't dare debut someone that young. Therefore Chawla's confidence has already been damaged. Also he isn't a big threat in domestic cricket in India, he often goes wicket less on spinning tracks. And it nearly all ways out bowled by Mishra, who plays for a weaker side.

Time is running out for Chawla already, there is an 16 year old left spinner coming through and he's being raved as the new Bishen Bedi(India has been searching for a world class left arm spinner since Bedi went in the 1980's!!!)

Indian media hypes young players like no tomorrow.. Raina was hyped to be to be the next Sachin, Chawla was suppose to be the next Kumble.. Indian media is just dumb.. Let Raina be Raina and Chawla be Chawla.. Raina was dropped for awhile also but was brought back in the side same can happen with Chawla there is plenty of time for him to make a career in international cricket.. doesn't have to look much further than the current Indian team.. Nehra, Shree, Zaheer all of them were dropped for awhile they came back...

The ECB dont do that because they realize the consequences of doing that, and it going wrong. You will have a ruined cricketer. Sorry Kaneria is average? Are you kidding? hes world class! Hes just come off a load of wickets vs New zealand and a five wicket haul against australia and is the first ever Pakistani spinner to get 250 test wickets, more than Qadir/Mustaq/Saqlian etc etc, sounds pretty good to me. Chawlas debut against England was premature, but in all fairness 59 fc matches and 243 wickets, that says this lad can bowl, never mind his all round potential (batting average of 26 with 1 hundred). He's claimed 28 wickets in 21 games in ODI cricket at 4.99 an over, so hes hardly been carted around.

Perhaps India will pick this left armer and ruin him too, much like they 'ruined' Chawla.

That's a matter of opinion. Sides from the sub-continent all ways pick players young and there's only a few that have an unfulfilled career.

Kaneria averages 34 in Test cricket, that isn't world class. More wickets doesn't make Kaneria better than Saqlain or Qadir.

Raina was meant to be the new Ganguly. Rohit was hyped as the new Sachin. If anyone is going to be the new Sachin, it's going to be Rahane, he's a run machine.

Fast bowlers get more chances than spinners. There have been plenty of decent spinners ditched after their first few matches and never picked again.

So Qadir averaged 33! And played 67 Matches compared to Kanerias 57! You could argue also that the time of pitches turning square and teams being rolled over by spinners for 100 or less is gone, therefore of course his average is going to be higher. He is the best leggie in the world at the moment, therefore he is world class.

Qadir didn't need to bully weak sides like Bangladesh, which are Kaneria's favourite opposition. If you removed Kaneria's minnow bashing, then his average is 214 wickets @ 37 and a strike rate of 72.

So by your judgement, every single bowler/batsman that has had the task of playing against Bangladesh/Zimbabwe should lose all their runs/wickets/catches because theyre 'weaker opposition'. Hmmmmmmmmm.

No certainly not, but if a supposed 'world class' player like Kaneria averages above 40 against Australia, India and England, then he's not worthy to play against the smaller sides. The great players earn the right to play the smaller sides, with what they achieve against the stronger teams. My method of thinking anyway.
