Tiwary's injury was a shame.. Hopefully he'll make a comeback.. For the life of me I can figure out how India has so many young promising batsman and no fast bowlers.. I guess everyone wants the be the next Sachin... Need a next Kapil Dev or the first Wasim or Imran..

I think Pujara is the real deal. Very good technique, good of front and back foot and has the ability to bat for long periods. He's bats in a similar style to Dravid and could replace Dravid, at 3, in the near future. Only problem for Pujara is that M Vijay seems to be the flavour of the month atm and Pujara has to leapfrog him.

Badrinath's been treated very poorly IMO. He's a mighty fine player, and I have no doubt that he would be better than Yuvraj in Test matches.

Tamim Iqbal the best young  & most talented opener around thesedays. He reminds me of Pakistan's Saeed Anwar.

Alvaro - I get the point you about Yuvraj being a better marketing tool, for the BCCI. But I'd much rather have a classy Badrinath, who's mentally strong and able to bat in tough situations, than Yuvraj going in at 6 and swinging the bat wildly.

Badrinath's got 2 matches to make his mark. He has to bat at 3 as well. No point playing him at 6.

I'm with you completely. Yuvraj is a prominent, card-carrying member of the 'flat tracks, small boundaries and massive bat' benefactors. He no like the swing.
Is it a tough blow for a motivated Parthiv not being picked as reserve 'keeper? Or has he resigned himself to being a state star for Gujurat?

Not even sure if he's the main state star.. Irfan, Munaf, Jadeja.. another career killed by calling him the next Kiran More...

CD - I would say Parthiv is the star of the Gujarat side. Munaf and Irfan play for Baroda. Pujara and Jadeja play for Saurashtra. All are Gujarati but play for the numerous different sides in Gujarat! India needs more Gujarati's in the national side!!!

Ya your right about their Ranji affiliation, I meant geographically..

I can't wait to see Irfan back in the national team.. I think he is our best all-rounder in the country.. bowling was hampered but he hasn't been given a long enough time to make a comeback in International cricket.. 

haha for sure more gujus on the national team would be a pleasure.. but only if they deserve it.. even though Munaf is a guju and from my hometown wouldn't want to see him in the national team.. think we have way better cricketers compared to him..

Personally, I think it's time Laxman retired and Yuvraj was shown the door from the Test side.

I mean, guys like Rahane, Pujara, Rohit, Raina and Tiwary need to play Test cricket. BCCI can't make them wait forever like they did with S. Badrinath.

Yes, Munaf was good for the first 18-24 months. Then for some unknown reason went off the boil. This seems a worrying theme for India's fast bowlers. Zaheer,Munaf, RP Singh, Sreesanth and most recently Irfan and Ishant. At least Zaheer didn't waste his second coming. Irfan needs to ensure that when he gets another chance, he grabs it with boths hand. Then maybe India will have two Gujarati's in the side!!!
