My memory of the Sabre is that is was a pig of a bat. It could just be that the ones I saw were planks and I've never really been a fan of bats having scoops.

The Sabre was just the rebranding of the Megapower. I never knew abyone with a Saabre. I knew two people with Megapowers. The issue with them was the middle was dead low, where all the meat with the two little scoops was. I want one to add to my collection, but they weren't particularly good bats from my recollection.

Went to GCCC today and saw the 50+and XP80 in person. The XP80 is much more impressive to me as it is just s giant. I picked one up in the 1500 range and thought it was 2'7 but it was 2'10, which would be because of the ridiculously high middle.  There's also an optical illusion to me when looking down the back of the bat from the toe up, as the bat looks narrower than normal due to the spine  coming out so far. Even thought about buying one, but could justify $795 for the 1500 model.

The 50+ was okay. Very heavy with next to no spine. Wasn't impressed at all.

Something that shocked me more was the stupid prices they are charging for bats now. It's gone from 1 bat being over $1000 AUD to being like 7 of them now. Completely obsurd! There was also a bag that cost me $190 a few years back and was only $195 last year, is somehow now $235 for the exact same thing as last year. Why??? Bloody Australia and our stupid pricing

Legend will be the most expensive UK bat, at around £750 RRP (will sell for £650ish)

There's a new top grade of Predator called Halestorm. Which I guess means Alex Hales is using it?

Looking at the prices I can't help but think the future of shelf made bats is in performance grade stuff. Seems that big companies can slap the word 'players' or 'pro' and charge an arm and a leg. The profit margins for these "super gold pro original 15000 players 5 star edition L.E." bats must be enormous.

Not to mention the Softs, I've seen numbers like $250aud for pads this year, it's hard to believe really. I can't see myself going to GCCC for anything other than shoes in the foreseeable future, I'll be sticking to boutique/custom smaller brands, the risk of not trying before buying is worth not having to pay for sponsorships and a big brand name.

The GN Elite I got last year for $450 is awesome. One of the best value off the shelf bats I've ever had. This year they've raised them to $575 and changed the shape to a generic one imo.

The Prestige and elite are similar shape, with the ultimate, silver and legend being similar to each other as well.

I was in my gear buying prime back in 2010-2012 when the Aussie dollar was pretty strong. Not so much now due to our weaker $

I'd check the exchange rate the dollar is now 1.76, a lot stronger since brexit, perhaps a second prime is coming.

Saw the catalogue yesterday. IMHO the prices are high - but things I loved were the new footwear range, the Legend Duffle bag (pricey but think they will be popular!) The introduction of a neck guard was a nice touch, and I think the Predator 3 will be a very popular bat!

So in that case question then jake, robin,

As I'm looking for a new duffle, I've heard nothing but good things about the supernova,
Or should I wait for next seasons.
