It's all well and good selling a bat but the after care and warranty still need to present and upheld via good customer service, something of which OLS are often found wanting

Just curious, do you have to send the bat back?

@ogroupleader, did you return the bat? If you did, did OLS refund the return shipping?

That extra long handle seems like a safety feature that will protect your hand from burning when you place it in the chimney fire.

Ignoring OLS chaos, how did you find the bat? I'm actually considering getting a bat made with similar specs so would be interested to hear what the balance etc was like...

Don't even start. I can send you the full transcript of the messages sent and received. There was absolutely no confusion about what I required. The breakdown happened with the factory.
I did get a paypal refund on this.

as funny as the bat looks, whats the big deal? Unless its a steel handle, you can easily lop off the extra inch, no?

The big deal is it wasn't what he ordered and this guy took no responsibility for it.

He managed to get the money refunded through PayPal, didn't he? Nothing in favour of OLS or against the OP but this topic is justified only if the bat was returned to OLS.

No harm in warning others though. You will see a few positive posts about the seller too on this Forum (http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=38111.msg625764;boardseen#new)

Yes the bat had to be returned to get the paypal refund.
Simple fact is i ordered a custom version of the very best bat that SF sells. The very best. And what i was sent was an absolute piece of crap. It was not made to the specs that were promised. It was not simply a matter of chopping off the top of the handle.  The blade was not as short as i requested, and it picked up like a pig. I already own an sf black. This bat was not in the same class.  I toyed with the idea of cutting down the blade further to help pickup but OLS were such complete douches over the whole thing i thought screw it im getting a refund and you can take back this piece of crap. I hope they've taken a loss on it.
If they had owned the mistake and been willing to open a dialogue i would have been prepared to keep the bat and work out some other deal to compensate me and allow them to not lose money.
Moral of the story is dont be a douche to your customers. Be honest and act with integrity.

Well said sir !  :) Mistakes , poor quality products,  poor service etc are one thing and are bad enough . On an entirely different stratosphere is a lack of communication and/or avoiding engaging the customer . End of the day karma /what goes around ....../ you reap what you ...../ etc etc etc .

With soft goods you can't really go wrong. Also there is no possibility of customization like long handle or shorter blade. You just get to pick sizes - mens, small mens, youth etc.
