The tale of two Ravi's...

Bopara smashed 3 hundreds against the Windies and was laughed at for simply dipping his bread against a team of also rans. Ashwin hits 3 hundreds against the Windies and is labelled an all rounder.

Funny game is cricket..,

Let's be honest though against this west Indies team nothing really counts
It's so easy even James Vince could get a hundred!

Must be that same mediocre side England failed to beat  ;). Don't recall many 100's in that series

Ravi Bopara scored 3 hundreds? That's 3 more than I thought he had! How did he manage that?

Does anyone know what the hell is the deal with the balls used for tests in the West Indies ? Last year when watching the oz tour there I heard they are Dukes , but a second rate or different Dukes to that used in England . These balls just leave such vividly red cherries on the bats it's ridiculous.  Players must need a lot of white spirit on windies tours . Otherwise they'd leave the Caribbean,  arrive in another country on a new tour , pull out a red stained bat and have the opposition sledge them with 'hey it'll be tough going , you're not batting against the Windies anymore' etc . Just seems a bit weird , but I'll leave it at that , otherwise I'll start a rant about how all tests in all countries should be played with the same ball (and not a Kookaburra) .

I wish I could have that many cherries on my bat but it doesn't look great, surely there should only be two different balls being used dukes or kookaburra makes things a hell of a lot more easier

Yeah , universality re test balls doesn't seem too much to ask ? At the moment there's kookaburra , dukes , 2nd rate/windies dukes , s.g . I suppose you could also add kookaburra pink to the list too . That's 4.....or 3 too many .

Am slightly confused as to what the issue is with what ball India uses. SG is a home brand and the ball they produce favours their spin bowers eg their strength. Why should they use a Duke ball?

Aside from balls, good to see Carlos Brathwaite and Dev Bishoo show some grit with the bat. Would've been easy to go out and give their wickets away but the batted sensibly showing their top order how to do it.

Looking forward Windies need to look at the balance of their side.

Chandrika, Blackwood and Chase didn't really offer much. Jason Holder really needs to move up to 6. You can't go into a Test with Gabriel, Bishoo + Carlos Brathwaite and Holder. Windies need to get Miguel Cummings into the side. 5 bowlers are needed.
