West Indies/India T20 matches in Lauderhill, Florida
« on: July 21, 2016, 02:50:37 PM »

So this series started today the once imperious boys of the Caribbean and the glamour kids from India.

Literally never seen such a weak Windies side in my life time.

First Test is in Antigua at the Sir Vivian Richards stadium, still a shame that the great Antigua Recreation Ground has been jettisoned.

Anyway Kohli won the toss and batted in a flat looking pitch. Five opted for 5 bowlers but rather surprisingly no place for Jadeja or KL Rahul. Three quicks and two spinners.

Windies go in with only Dev Bishoo as their spinner. Debut for Roston Chase.

India: 1 Shikhar Dhawan, 2 M Vijay, 3 Cheteshwar Pujara, 4 Virat Kohli (capt.), 5 Ajinkya Rahane, 6 Wriddhiman Saha (wk), 7 R Ashwin, 8 Amit Mishra, 9 Ishant Sharma, 10 Mohammed Shami, 11 Umesh Yadav

West Indies: 1 Kraigg Brathwaite, 2 Rajendra Chandrika, 3 Darren Bravo, 4 Marlon Samuels, 5 Jermaine Blackwood, 6 Roston Chase, 7 Carlos Brathwaite, 8 Shane Dowrich (wk), 9 Jason Holder (capt.), 10 Shanon Gabriel, 11 Devendra Bishoo

India end the day 302/4.

A masterclass from Indian skipper Virat Kohli who ended the day 143* passing his 12th Test hundred and 3000 Test runs. Some player this boy.

Dhawan registered 84. Vijay, Pujara and Rahane wasted their chances against a poor Windies side.

Dev Bishoo snared 3/108 and Shannon Gabriel bowled quickly on a sluggish pitch.

Interesting to also see Kohli has promoted Ashwin up to #6 and playing him as a proper all rounder.

From the test match commentary I can only assume you're @Aussie In England in disguise...

Ashwin has always been more then capable with the bat, no surprise jadeja has not been included I'd select ashwin over jadeja any day he's a magician with the ball.

Watching Kohli play spin is a treat. He's masterful at dissecting the off side with those elastic wrists of his. Anything on his pads is money for old rope.

In my opinion I believe kohli plays in a classier way to tendulkar he's great to watch, he's able to play the ball into gaps that you don't think is possible true genius in all formats of the game

The Indians grinding the Windies into the Antiguan dirt. 404/4 at lunch on day 2. Indian captain Virat Kohli has completed his maiden double century(in both Test&FC) and shows no signs that his appetite has been fulfilled. R Ashwin has passed his 7th Test 50, but was afforded a life by the keeper on 44.

If Kohli gets his ODI beast mode going he could get 300.

Interesting to also note Kohli's century split.

Only 3 hundreds at home and 9 away from home.

Sachin was always picked on for batting on Indian roads...

Nor sure I entirely agree with that TBH

Tendulkar had 6 hundreds in Australia, 5 in South Africa, 6 in Sri Lanka(most by a foreign player, 4 in England, 2 in New Zealand. Seems a fair spread

Let's be honest though against this west Indies team nothing really counts
It's so easy even James Vince could get a hundred!

Assuming he'd be dropped in the slips off booming drives a few times en route though...
