I have 7 aussie g.n s and all have w on them . I know some batmakers use shoulder stamps to put either the brand or batmakers initials

One letter is the year the model was made and one letter is who it was made by.
The maker's letter used to be stamped into the toe.

Sorry to revive this thread. I am about to buy a GN bat that has "2" as stamp on the shoulder. I was told it was made for a pro. Is it true? I have never seen numbers on the shoulders so I just want to make sure.

How about Salix? How would I know a bat made by Andrew? I assume he has helpers doing some of his bats?

s

There is no stamp on a salix that determines who made the bat, it would only be Andrew, Ian (who is as good as AK but gets no credit he started Salix with Andrew and Hugh) or made by Ben who before he left was making very very good bats as well but Andtew has input in 80% of bats so chances are good.
On very few Andrew will initial a bat with AJK on pro graded clefts but these are quite rare as this is done at grading stage

Stamps on each shoulder indiacate the batmakers mark  and batch number one stamp is the batmakers identification not always his name.

Previous thebigginge stated that shoulder stamps are used so that bats can be dated from point of manufacture... This was UK GN's I believe

Anyone know what maker 'S' refers to? Would be interested to find out where my GN was made as it's not quite the normal fare.

Ill ask about the S too mate. Im curious in this instance as mine was an 09 Legend, advertised as all being made by Stuart. But as this was a custom and not one "off the shelf" it may have a different story. Certainly had a different profile to the other store bought Legend. Wish i could remember the stamp on that one....
