Well done for all for bringing lots of goodies and treats!
Was a great day although some of us "real men" were butch and manly enough to go to the pub after for a burger and pint!
Although we do understand that you "modern men" types had to tootle back to your Bosses wives.

And Fattuscattus may need to be renamed slimmuscattus at this rate! Was like having Jason Statham bowling at you but without the stubble!

Really was a very good net yesterday nice to see some new faces and some familiar ones, big thanks to Matt for organising and Pete and Simon for bringing a shop with them to look through.
Also got to face an 11 year old who was getting some coaching down there, he's a serious talent that lad going to be some player

A really good net, however, I am now a great big stiffy!!

) His batting was the second most majestic style on display after @jblowe too I'd say :)

Ah when you can only play one shot, there is no point in leaving it a home!!!  Next season I am going to have the Royal Imperial Guard enforce a "Pitch it up Rule".  Any bowler found bowling short to a good length will be taken to the tower and given a damn good thrashing.

Aha yes!!  How did I forget the 11 year old that bounced @petehosk  - cricketing gold that was!!

That kid was quite quick and it was a surprise that he had the pace. I still had enough time to do my Matrix sway in plenty of time.
His best ball was beautiful line and length just outside of off stump - was a peach of a ball. Wouldn't like to face him in 2 or 3 years!!

The older youngster who joined our net at the end was a bit of a bugger to face too! Never seen anything so fast especially off about 2 yards run up. I think after getting lucky and driving one ok all bets were off and he was after my head! I tried my tried and tested "I haven't played cricket for... blah blah blah" but I think he though I was taking the pi.. biscuit. Still got a swollen, purple finger from a bouncer I only partially managed to defend!

Does lack the comedy gold of the younger chap completely unexpectedly whistling one past Pete's ears with all eyes on the net though :) His batting was the second most majestic style on display after @jblowe too I'd say :)

I saw that youth! He barely ran in and then launched the ball down at you at twice the pace I would expect from that tiny run up!
And how could I get close to comparing to the pure regal majestic style of Jason! His beard alone deserves a National Day off to celebrate it's brilliance!

Gents,

A cracking effort to all attending. some serious willow on show!! Pete, Simon. you two never fail to disappoint and Nick those were some seriously large bits of Wood!
I've transferred cash back to those that paid 15 early and to those with dicky tummies (church) and dodgy knees (Neon)

You all make the event and I always learn so much! @tom line you're teaching me how to clean a bat up one day soon!!

may Santa bring you some good wood!

Cheers @Mpt7 - didn't even give the cash a thought so really appreciate that.

Hopefully I'll be back on my feet in time for a net soon!

So here's the thing - I only played half a season this year through work and family commitments. I thought I'd reached the end of the line and that the interest was finally waning.

However, I'm only 46 and I have a nagging feel I've still got 3 or 4 years of league cricket left in me (I still can't seem to quite give it up).

So with this in mind I'm in the process of working out how to bowl one that goes away and also the smack-it / block-it method of batting.

So it is with much surprise I am wondering if my usual Southern Net chums are all up for multiple nets in the off season at Eversley?

CMON YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!
