He's no world beater, but he's better than average.

Faf's captaincy (with "delayed" declaration) was good. Not sure about the dressing room and pep talks there but his on-field body language is terrific! SA might have the candidate they have been looking for to fill the Test captaincy slot.

Excellent result for our team and really pleased with the contribution made by a number of players. Rabada really finding his feet and it would be excellent if he can continue to benefit from experienced trio of Morkel, Steyn and Philander. Debutant Maharaj played his part as did the middle order batters. As mentioned previously, the performance made even more special taking into account the absence of AB, Dale and no runs from our machine Amla.

Really hope this continues for the rest of the series.

So Australia's ploy of selecting half cooked bowlers has come to bite them in the rear as Peter Siddle has a back injury and has been ruled out. Joe Meanie gets a debut. Kyle Abbott confirmed as Steyn's replacement

Second Test starts at 11pm UK time. Hobart is the venue, weather forecast is a tad indifferent for the first two days. South Africa have never played a Test in Hobart before.

Australia (possible) 1 David Warner, 2 Joe Burns, 3 Usman Khawaja, 4 Steven Smith (capt), 5 Adam Voges, 6 Mitchell Marsh/Callum Ferguson, 7 Peter Nevill (wk), 8 Mitchell Starc, 9 Joe Mennie, 10 Josh Hazlewood, 11 Nathan Lyon

Burns recalled and Mennie gets a debut. Depending on conditions the hapless Mitchell Marsh might get axed for another debutante Callum Ferguson.

South Africa (possible) 1 Stephen Cook, 2 Dean Elgar, 3 Hashim Amla, 4 JP Duminy, 5 Faf du Plessis (capt), 6 Temba Bavuma, 7 Quinton de Kock (wk), 8 Vernon Philander, 9 Kyle Abbott, 10 Kagiso Rabada, 11 Keshav Maharaj/Morne Morkel.

Stephen Cook, probably playing for his career, has seen off Rilee Roussow for a lityle while longer. Kyle Abbott will replaced Dale Steyn and conditions pending veteran fast man Morne Morkel could form a 4 man pace attack in place of SLA Keshav Maharaj.

Fair to say South Africa are overwhelming favourites to seal the series.

First Test since AB and Steyn debuted back in 2004 that neither will be part of the playing XI.
