I always like to see debutants do well, but I'd love to see Aussies 30-5 by close of play tonight, would make for a superb test match then

Aussies been watching hameed?

5overs in and neither opener off the mark.

Suppose Warner being at 3 has helped the slow start

Thought du Plessis' innings was sensational. Hazlewood and Bird bowled very nicely and Faf scored a chance less 100. Loves the Adelaide oval does the South African captain. Pretty impressed with the Australian rookie opener. Showed a good technique against a superb bowling attack. Just to think it could've been Hameed and Renshaw for England...

Handscomb hanging back to everything reminiscent of Joe Root's first incarnation as an international player. Not saying he will have that success, but interesting to see.

Renshaw didn't add to his overnight score.

Handscomeb with a nice 50

Maddison with a duck.

And wade only made 4.

Would burns, m marsh, Neville, ferguson etc have done any better? Probably not.

Also, not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but as a junior Renshaw played for the same club joe root and Micheal Vaughan came from.

Kyle Abbott has been bowling like a miserly demon this series . I don't think Steyn could have bowled any better .
Handscomb had a promising innings . Renshaw ....need to watch him for a good handful of test innings to suss out . Maddinson. ... not test material.  If we want youngsters , there are others more worthy , more suitable to test cricket .
I wish Sayers had been picked for this match , could have been dangerous under lights with the new ball .
