Thought I'd bring this back up.

On 1059 runs (I think) from 40 innings this year so surpassed my target batting wise and have got 28 wickets so far.

Best season allround for me this year! :D :D

Had a count up on the Play-Cricket site, I'm poised on 1680 runs for my club, from 64 innings. So next year hopefully reach the 2000 inside 80 innings....

2011 season couldn't come soon enough!

Thanks to moving clubs due to "problems" at said club, and them being removed from the league, I've missed a few weeks of the season through it and also can't access the wickets I've taken in that league *sobs* but I reckon I've taken about... 33 wickets from what I can work out. Not the worst effort in the world, and I've bowled 166 overs, averaging about 16. I've definitely stepped up in standard in terms of leagues though, so it's a work in progress. Didn't get many catches come my way, but ground fielding has been quality, and my batting has improved, scored about 55 runs in 12 innings, which for me is good, and an average of 18, only been out 3 times, so I've done well for me! Still got 2 or 3 games to go though!

Upto 660 runs now from 19 games (averaging 41.25) but just got back from A and E - strained medial ligament, 3 weeks out!!!  I think im gonna try and get back for the last game 11 days time.  Im gutted though, my target of 800 seems along way off now!!!  :(

Wouldnt rush back from a medial ligament for the sake of one game as u cud make it worse....knee stabilising ligaments arent the best ones to mess with!!!

well i would invest in a knee support if your going to risk it mate that will stabilise the patella...one with metal rods down the side will prob be best to add stability to the joint

Longy - forget your average, that is a by product of cricket not the reason we play. Remember - ligaments take longer than bones to heal (sorry to be the bearer of bad news) - you could do yourself serious damage by rushing back - Take the fact you wont be able to play in the cup final on the chin and go and support your team - you would want to cost the team the match because you have to go off injured would you?  :(

Edit - this sounds quite harsh, but I really think you are making a mistake, this really doesn't sound like a muscular thing which you can play through.  ???

Having ruptured both cruciate ligaments in my left and right knees and tearing the cartilage in the process I can speak from experience when I say giving it an extra few weeks to recover is worth the wait rather than having an operation and lengthy physio to get back to fitness!!!

Doesn't sound much compared to others but have scored 191 runs in 5 weekend matches avg 38.2 and strike rate of 161 per 100 balls and 260 in 13 Evening League (20 overs/16 overs) avg 28.8 and strike rate of 169 per 100 balls.  Compared to average of under 10 at a lower level last year I'm pretty happy, although would have liked to play more weekend cricket this year.

Longy, don't rush back, I dislocated my ankle a couple of years ago playing hockey but it was the ligaments that took time to heal. I tried to come back too early and ended up missing out on 3 really important games in a UK cup competition including the finals day, I doubt I will ever get the chance to play in those rounds again as we won't make it that far....and I'm getting too old and fat.

I know, doctors said should be 3 weeks but maybe 2 weeks at a push.  Im tempted to have a couple of sessions in an oxygen chamber to try and get it healed quicker (thats how much it means to me!)

Im hoping full rest 10 days doing the physio i have been given then with strapping might get through.

Longy, been there, done that, got the permanent weak knee to show for it.... Had 3 operations to repair it and avoiding making it worse is the only cure.

Ok no problems, if i was to play, would you go and see a doctor before hand to let him see if it was fit or not?

If you need to see a doctor - you know what he is going to say...!!
