It's alright Churchy ignore me, ive had a bit of a random day on the forum, if anything gets posted about Kevin bloomin Pieterson I start posting inaccurate random stuff. We've all been there thou right?

Look forward to our next duel at practice, my aim is to get the ball down there faster than it comes back

Seeing the Vincent van der post and the reasons why  caused me  to think of  a world class South African : Clive Rice.

Clive Rice did play for South Africa when we were readmitted to international cricket and captained the team to India if I recalled correctly.

@SOULMAN1012

Kirtley played a fair bit for England, got a sixfer in Tests, this catch in ODIs https://youtu.be/Gh6CI142pus and played in the first World T20

Not bad for a chucker

Nothing is getting past Alvaro on the qualification in this thread  :)

Ok I known this does not really qualify Because he did very briefly play for SA(I think it was just a couple of tests) but Barry Richards was robbed of being possibly the best ever batsman for South Africa.

Yes he was that good just happened to be at his peak in an era of sporting wilderness

There may not be that many on here old enough but would encourage some you tube clips of him.

Truly a beautiful player with immense talent.

how about ex England bowling coach david saker along with his onetime bowling partner Damien wright , both awesome on their day , very unlucky not to have baggy green caps , I know wright played for the PM's XI & Aust A ,  but should have got to run on for the  test team.

Clive Rice was South Africa's first captain on readmission.

I was thinking of tests rather than the 3 ODIs  he played

In hindsight , James Hopes probably deserved a test cap at some stage . He was diminutive in size and thus underrated as a bowler , but he had enough pace , could swing it , and even opened the bowling for qld on occasion.  His late middle order batting was handy too . When guys like Ronald MacDonald can get a test gig ( don't get me wrong , i rated him too ....good player ) then surely Hopes could have got a turn . It's not like Watson never got injured or anything .

Darren Stevens? Can't believe he has never played any one day cricket for England with his all round ability.

On the basis that it is difficult to say that anyone under the age of 35 won't still get a chance, I'm sticking for oldies.

Of England qualified players in recent times, I reckon you'd do well to find someone more unlucky than David Sales.  A player of immense talent and no little power, he always seemed to get injured at the wrong time.  More important, unlike some prolific first class performers who look unsuited to the top level, he looked like he was perfect for it.

With a 2lb 5oz bat... (apparently)

David Sales is the one who springs to mind.

He's a wise man, Manormanic.
