Any chance they might just consider opening with Root? He's effectively opened for the last 3 games anyway.

I hope not, there is still a difference between opening and coming in even after a couple of balls for me and you don't want to do anything to upset Root's form.

They did win that last ODI in Cardiff chasing 300, but I guess the series was 4-1 and an absolute doddle.

I would fancy us to win at either ground but I reckon we'd fair better at Edgbaston...

Never take any team for granted! Both SL and Pakistan may not have the strongest team right now, but they both seem capable of having a superb game every 4 or 5 games!
England and India are absolutely strong favourites to meet in the final but anything is possible, as has been proved so far with Australia and South Africa both going out before the Semi Final stages!
