And THIS categorically proves that you've never been to the North ;) :D

Went to Leeds last year, it rained a lot.

Fake North is Leeds, you're barely out the Midlands :D

Odd that the England side is 8-3 northern then? ;)
This categorically proves that the next set of england players are from the South which is far superior to than the North

Think thats what rick meant

My teammate in the smoke of London is originally from Batley which far as I know is Leeds.

If I said to him it was not even the proper north I'm sure he would punch my lights out  :)

Anyway..what have we learnt? Wood is back and injury free, or at least we don't know if he has picked up anything.

Bresnan is still quality...

Duckett? Bell Drummond and northeast?  All good as far as I can see...

But are they just as good as each other or does anyone stand out

Strauss said the fielding was very average.

Wouldn't surprise me if one or two players found their way into the squad for the Ireland/South Africa ODIs

I wouldn't call 15 over across 2 games "injury free" imo.

Bresnan is still quality...

This was a given, how he's still not mentioned as potential has baffled me

Malan? The most runs inc. a ton, has to be worth a shout even if he is a another lefty and the best part of 30 years old

Not a lot?

Everyone knew Bressie lad is a quality player - the type of guy the Aussies would utilise, a la  Big John Hastings - to rotate their a-listers. Won't happen mind...

Otherwise, the fact is the premise was affected by lopsided teams. The South side has eleven guys with at least Lions experience whereas the North was carrying guys who are not even first choice at their counties (White, Leaning, Gurney, Coughlin). If I had to pick someone who came off well, it would be either DBD (good knocks) or Clarke, as much because getting the gloves over Duckett is a compliment.

The 2nd and 3rd leading local wicket takers in the one day tournament last year (Gurney and White) and Durhams one day vice captain (Coughlin) aren't even first choices for their counties  ;)? And us southerners only played 1 less player with no England lions (or higher) experience in the 3 games overall!

I'm going to guess that, these shameless excuses aside, the embarrassing defeats are probably Andrew Strauss's fault.

"shameless excuses"?  Piffle - I have no affiliation in a made up match that is supposed to act as an international selection trial - I am merely observing that it was something of a lost opportunity to really test the best against each other.

If you actually had "strongest" North vs South, it'd be a massacre.

I reckon we could be more competitive than the north were in this series  :D.

Edit : Appears as though I've accidentally nicked Moeen.
