Don't know what's worse, turning up without a bat, or admitting it on here!

I couldn't have done worse if I'd have not used a bat
Crap wickets and crap balls, tbh, I think I've had enough
It's not worth missing time with the kids

Our regular opener overslept and missed the first 15 overs of our bowling. I was asked to open today and I scored 22 off 24 before I was given LBW on an inside edge. Umpire at the end apologized for his wrong call. We were chasing 140 in 30 overs. We chased it with 6 down in 27 overs. I bowled my off spin and my bowling figure was 6.3-0-23-3 wickets including 3 drops on my bowling. Took two catches as well. Overall a good day of cricket for me. It was my first game since May 18th.

Complete contrast of fortunes over this weekend.

Saturday I bowled (at least in my opinion) 12 very decent overs but for absolutely no reward as I had 5 chances put down. Technically it was 4 drops as on the 5th, the fielder took a few steps back with his reasoning being that he wanted to avoid being hit by the ball.

Today went out on loan that saw me playing at the very fine ground of Clifton Alliance in York. I bowled the worst I have done all season and was about to get hauled off when the batsman kindly smashed one straight into the hands of long-on.  In fact in complete contrast to yesterday, my team today took 9 out of the 10 catching chances that came our way and a lot of these were similar type dismissals where the batsman middled the ball but straight to a perfectly positioned fielder on the boundary.  We had previously posted 196 off 40 overs and the hosts were always looking slight favourites in the run chase but as they say "catches win matches" and they ended up all out in the 38th over and short by just 10 runs.

Credit should go to Clifton Alliance who could have just taken the 30 points but instead informed the league they would allow the opposition to field unlimited loan players to enable the match to take place.

After three runs in four innings (Which included a golden duck and second ball duck back to back) I managed a mammoth (by my standards!) 23 runs. Had a rare piece of luck early on when mid-on dropped a dolly but after that felt pretty comfortable before perishing reverse sweeping a medium pacer in an attempt to accelerate near the end of the innings. Live by the reverse sweep, die by the reverse sweep.

Just as I started to revise my opinions from "I bloody hate cricket, why do I bother?" to "Man, this cricket thing isn't too bad" I then dropped two catches which brought me back down to earth in a hurry.  :(

STOP MOANING!!! I had to sit in an Art Gallery all day Saturday, I would give almost anything to be bowled for a duck and to get my bowling slogged out the ground. Cricket is the true game of Love and Hate.

It's been weird this season not keeping; I haven't quite got used to fielding yet! Two catches yesterday in the field both felt really weird, but luckily I held them.

Yesterday our skipper chose to bowl on a greenish one and after 6 overs the oppo looked in complete control on 30-0. Then, we managed to get both their openers out (one yorked, one caught at 2nd slip by yours truly) and our mercurial inswing bowler went on to take 7-fer as we bowled them out for 99 in 33 overs.

Seeing as it's a timed game we actually had 62 overs in which to chase down 100, and we got off to the worst possible start as I lost my opening partner for a 2nd ball duck. We've been 0-1 in almost every game this season, so it's about time I started facing the first delivery I think. Anyway, the guy coming in at 3 was the 7-fer guy. He hasn't made too many runs this season but pulled his first ball majestically for 4 and we were away.

The oppo clearly felt that the only way they could defend 99 was to sledge the life out of us throughout, including repeated comments about my average. They were still chirping as I took guard with the score on 97-1 so I checked with keeper and slip that we needed 3 to win, and nailed one back over the bowler's head to end the game :D Finishing on 43* as we won by 9 wickets, I felt like reminding them of how much good that would do for my average.

@richthekeeper think the name needs to be changed to richthefielder ahah.

My weekend was away to Cardiff CC, we've taken a pasting off them the last 3 times we've played them so to go down there and get a win was satisfying!

We won the toss and batted first scoring 244-7 - I'll take my 5 ball cameo for 8 not out, taking my average to 21.75 this season now!

Bowled first change for the first time in a long time in the second team and didn't really get going. We used the pink ball for the first time this season as South Wales Premier League have aligned with the county championships use of it, are anyone else's league doing this? If not, you are so lucky - they deteriorate so quickly and do not swing after 10 overs of use. I finished with figures of 6-1-26-0. Took two catches, the second one to finish the game in the 48th over, took it running over the shoulder so very proud of that one!

2nd XI back on top of the league and 1st XI in second - so far a good season for the club!

Cup quarter final tonight.

Batted first and posted 215-2 off our 16 overs.
103* for the no.3

No idea what the final socre was, but we won!
I took 1 for about 12 off 3 overs and held onto a catch at mid off.

Semi final next Monday!

Last week we beat a rival for the title and bought ourselves in to contention. Unfortunately we lost two players in that game to serious injuries.

This week was the reverse of said fixture. And a massive batting collapse due to an inability to play slow bowling meant we lost and probably took us back out of title contention.

As I was injured I decided to take some camera equipment along and see what sort of footage I could catch. I'll admit it was hard watching over and over again while editing as we was shocking.

But thanks to the delights of YouTube it can be watched over and over again. Yeahhhhhhh......

So yeah the only two clubs with a glimmer of stopping top winning, took a game each from the double header while top won both games and moved well clear at the top. Another season lost.

T20 tonight

Bowled first and oppo got 147-5 off their 20.
One wicket for lots for me. Managed to pop the end joint of my little finger on my right hand out of place in the field. Popped it back in and carried on.

We lost by 3 runs but I made a quickfire 28 which I am ecstatic with given how my season has gone so far

No match for me on Saturday due to another commitment should then  be able to play every match until the end of the season.

Hope so but it's doubtful as there's two other regular players  missing it doesn't help that the team the clubs playing are hard to beat  on there pitch.
