Nets at my club went up today, so had my first outdoor hit of the year.
Roll on the start of the season!

Actually had an indoor net today, waaaarm. Couple of weeks off​ now before first outdoor net and game, anyone need a ringer?

Played yesterday. Friendly match. Beautiful weather. In fact I got sunburnt!! In April.




Not a bad start, got 40 of 28 balls.
Started sensibly but then one came in my slot. Not bad way to get your first runs of the season with a bomb over long off.




Hopefully 2017 continues like that.

Played today in a friendly for a club I have never been to got around 80 not out and took 1 catch standing up. (body is going into shock right now enjoyed though).

I got 29 at Shipton. Started scratchy, got more confident, nailed a couple of pull shots (in April), then hit a full toss down deep square leg's throat. Mug's life.

Cracking game of cricket today. secind pre  season friendly.


We batted first and scored a whopping 285 all out.we was technically only 9 down as our number 4 hit a 52 ball ton, and the oppo cried because he didn't retire once at hundred..... so he then did retire and refused to go back out(we had 7 overs left)


The oppo then made 281 for 3 in return from there 40 overs! They got close thanks to our bowler get the yips in the 38 over and howling 7 wides and a no ball as his over went for 29!!!(or he'd been paid to get it closes.


I made 21 of 11 balls, 2 sixes and 2 fours before sticking off, slightly disappointed as it was a road, but I slipped going for a two early on and my hip is now (No Swearing Please) and I'm struggling to walk.
Hmmm hopefully goes away and I can crack on with my season.

Technically, I think it's the opposition captain's call as to whether a retired batsman can bat again (if he'd wanted to).

4th game today, 3rd 50 scored. I retired on 50 as we went as many people getting a bat in pre season. Couple of catches so far and nothing dropped or missfiekded so winner chicken dinner

Oppos collapsed a bit today so we ensured that their 7+ got a decent bat

Great stuff, I've been lucky enough to play in the same team with my brother and dad both in cricket and football....fingers crossed I'm still fit and able to play with my son whenever he's old enough.

First game of the season for me yesterday.
We won off the last ball chasing 177, our number 11 hit it for 4.
I got 20 and a catch keeping wicket.
Really nice to be back playing again
