Terrible start to the season for me personally, got to do absolutely nothing all day, no bat and no bowling - just a whole lot of fielding!

Opposition went 319-9 after going 233-0 with both opening bats hitting tons - one using a lovely BB very efficiently to say the least. The other (who I dropped on 60 odd) also had a nice bat couldn't make out what it was though.

Did end up taking a catch but that was about it for me as I sat in the hutch batting at 9 for the rest of the day as we ended 177-5 off 50.

It's no  fun when that happens never liked  paying match subs  just to field.
Hopefully the Captain will remember and give you a bat next week

Agreed, it riled me up - our teas were poor too so couldn't even stuff my face. Will be hoping to drop down to the 3rd XI and actually do something with my time and money this weekend.

 Next match when the captain is writing the batting order I would be  in his ear reminding him I didn't have a bat last week.

Not being funny, but if the lad wants a good game then surely it's more a case of moving down a team? I've never played in a league match where "not batting the week before" constitutes moving up the order... it's a team sport after all...

Oh the left handed opened. I was at 2nd slip and he played around his front pad looked plumb to me.

There wasn't a single appeal against me I'm afraid, I edged one to the same guy when he was fielding at first slip but dropped short and hit him on the 2nd bounce if that's what he means. And yes I do walk, I'm one of the weird ones that does.

In terms of closer game that's the leagues fault we went unbeaten last year and made a case to double jump this year but that wasn't allowed by the league so looks like it may me the same this season but very early doors yet. Maybe see you in the return game?

Its easy to say if like me are a top order player who gets to bat each week but
If you want to retain players you need to involve them if you don't you might find yourself without a team

@calcurtis98 how come you didn't bowl, Cal? surely if your side used 7 bowlers, and one of them went for 69 off 7, you could have made an impact?!

@richthekeeper don't ask mate that's what made me so infuriated, also the guy who went 3 overs for 36 hasn't been seen since last season and I've netted through the winter and haven't missed an outdoor session yet!

What makes it worse is the captain is one of my closest friends from school - I think he knows he's pissed me off too.
