Seriously starting to question myself - getting out the same way every time - seems I'm incapable of playing anything that tails in to me slightly and is relatively full - keep falling over and missing it 4/5 dismissals bowled middle and leg - fantastic.

Yesterday got rained off.

Today had quite a bizarre end to a 30 over per side friendly. At the start of the last over of the match, the shout of "7 to win" came from the scorer, the batsmen only manage to get 5 runs but all the opposition run on to the field celebrating that the match is a tie. The rest of us were confused because we know they needed 4 to win off last ball and only scored 2. I ask what their final score is, 172 is the reply so I inform the opposition that our total was 173 and point to the scoreboard that reads the 1st innings total 173. I then get told that 173 is the target, not the total but being a friendly (which in fairness had been played in an excellent spirit) I just couldn't be bothered to argue the point.

Played in the rain all day on Saturday - came off the pitch twice, thinking we wouldn't get the game done but somehow we did.

Anyway, a return to the 2s this week and got a nice spell of five overs in, picking up a wicket with my very first ball. Went on to finish 5-1-7-1 (could've sworn it was 2 maidens and they've put byes down as runs but not going to argue).

Even with this good bowling display I don't think it'll be enough to keep me there next weekend, as I am the easy target to drop back to the 3s.

Really stating to feel my way into this season now.. I've made a few changes to my batting and its paying off although I have to say the biggest difference is in my concentration...

My last 4 innings have been 24... had to steady the ship a little and built a partnership with the skipper. I face 74 balls which I know is a lot but it did the job for the team which I was really pleased about

the following week I got a call up to the 1's (players short) and looked really good at the crease until the 18year old opening bowler called me for a suicide single forgetting I am twice his age (and weight).... he apologised so I guess its all part of the game

then this weekend I managed a 45 (back in the 2's) of 87 deliveries, played some excellent shots and although I got done by a spinner for an LBW I definitely hit it (few of the oppo came up to me after to say they thought I did) but the ump called it as he saw it, disappointed to not get the 50 but pleased to continue the crease time... then on Sunday I played 1's again in T20 against 2 teams at the top of the league above us. I managed a very respectable 28 in the first game going in at 6 in the 12/13 over... again I was run out trying to make a tight 3 by a direct hit so not a "fail" of my batting so to speak (more my fitness) Some really nice clean hits against bowling from the league above so all in all currently pretty pleased with myself.

I'll ignore the Duck in the second game, I went in with about 10 balls to go and played on trying to tee off.... mandatory heave.

Start of the season, I really struggled with the ball and ended up getting 'the yips' a couple of weeks in. Really strange feeling where i couldnt let go of the ball correctly and it was either a half tracker of full bunger!

Have been working on a few things at nets over the past few weeks, and then ended up dropping down to our 2nds a couple of weeks ago. First week was steady and took 3 for 39 off 13, but this week was a bit of a strange one where i ended up taking 5 for 4 off 9 overs. The strange part was 3 of the 4 runs came from wides!

The standard is a bit different, but its nice to actual get some confidence back and feel in control again when bowling.

I'm a real big fan of rotation into the seconds (and up to the firsts) exactly for this reason. I think if a club wants a strong playing ethos then certain players need the opportunity to come up and down... it builds confidence, gets them more hands on game time if they are being under utilised at the higher level and when necessary gives someone with potential a bit of exposure to the higher standard so that they can find their feet when everything is traveling that bit faster / turning more / or punished more for in consistency.

Sounds like its been good for you, the team probably had a strong performance and no doubt you will be back up in the 1's really soon.

Our league don't let you play if there isn't at least 8.
Need to work on picking Those bonus points up.

Sunday was funny.

3 of our Saturday team play for brodsworth and 3 of us play for mexborough

was like Houghton vs Houghton.

Did enjoy taking our Aussie opening bowler for 20 of his first 2 overs

Same in the WCL  8 players minimum but the league knowing our situation as said we can play if the opposition agree
