Won yesterday with a really good team performance.

Played on an absolutely craxy pitch at home after our roller packed up mid week so we couldn't prepare a new wicket meaning we played on the same track for the 3rd match in a row. It was like playing in Mumbai not MK!

We batted 1st and the oppo brought their off spinner on in the 6th over and his 3rd ball pitched outside leg and hit the top of the off stump of my LH opening partner - from round the wicket as well.  :( :o

We scored 217 - i got 37 - before an iffy LBW sweeping.

The wicket just got worse with more inconsistent bounce as well and we bowled them out for 101.

Hopefully our roller will get fixed soon!!

Was that to preserve his average on a dodgy pitch, or was there more tea to eat?

He didn't actually eat any tea, looked quite ill but did go in at 4 and got a 20 not out

Won yesterday. After opening for 1s last week back in 2s. Won toss and batted on a low slow strawy deck. I was due to go in 10 but lost 3 quick wickets and padded up. But then the guys put on 200 to finish with a very competitive score of 270 in 40 overs. At drinks they were at 125-3 and the game was balanced but 2 wickets in an over after drinks knocked stuffing out of innings and they were all out in 35th for 200. Very good game played in a good spirit. Although the umpire signalling a wide as the batsman walked off after a thick nick was an interesting decision! My contribution was 4 overs for 30 although 5 wickets occurred in the first over of a new spell so I'm claiming that as my contribution as skipper!

My love for cricket my have cost me for a while.

Straight from my holiday, off the plane and to the ground for a big game, us 2nd vs 3rds.

In the 31st over having been stood at slips for most of the innings I had to chase one to the boundary and my hamstring popped.
It made an awful sound, everyone heard it, even the oppo On the other side of the pitch.

Oh well a while off for me then.

Anyway the game.
Pitchwas a beauty grounds man claimed it was "250-300 pitch, easy"

Oppo won toss and batted. We bowled well they didn't really attack. But gave little chances.
We ran out there top scorer early. But the unpire wasn't watching "Thought it was deadball" was his excuse.
Batsman had come down pitch hit it to short cover, who threw down stumps, batsman didn't even try to get back. But he refused to walk and umpire refused to put his finger up.

Anyway our fielding was dreadful, last ten they attacked and we dropped 5 catches on the ropes and all went over.

213 for 4 they finished on.

At 82 for 2 at drinks we were confident.
At 150 for 6 with 12 left we wasn't so and I was asked if I could bat. "Maybe with a runner but I'm struggling to move.

I went in at ten, us needing 12 of 13 balls.

I scored ten of the 12. Of just 4 balls. Middled everything, and every single one hurt so much!!! thankfully for my partner he got the other 2 runs to finish on a well deserved 101* from 108 balls.
He was adamant I was gonna stand him on 99(would have to, team game.........lol).

It really shouldn't have got that far, if we had held our catches we'd have been chasing much less, and if our strong batting line up had applied themselves on a lovely track, we could have got the 250-300 the grounds man claimed easily.

Oh and apparently the kid that got 100 was stumped at 30, the same unpire again not watching, he says as much that "he's dragged" but he too decided to go on the umpires call. Karma?

Oh well, a few weeks of watching now hoping I'll be back before the season finishes.

Charity T20 today, was nice to play in coloured kit again.

Bowled first. I went 3 overs 0-15 as the oppo posted 164-6

We won, got the runs 9 down with 3 balls to spare. We don't need to talk about my batting  :(

I'm sure that's cheating in some way, the same as a left arm seamers coming over the wicket!

You think that's bad? Try some muppet bowling spin (in the loosest term of the world) left arm through and round yesterday... thankfully for all involved I put his novelty run up back in it's place ;)

Last three knocks have been 0 (1), 0 (2), 1 (4). Don't know why I bother...

At least I think I'm on the way to getting my bowling fixed a bit. Can't bowl in the nets as my finger won't recover in time for the weekends so I've spent two weeks imagining my bowling action and trying to make technical adjustments in my head which was interesting to say the least.

Paid off somewhat as I managed to land most balls on middle and leg than outside off stump and managed 1 for 24 from my 9 overs. Considering that I've gone at 7+ RPO in the couple of games that I've bowled in prior to this weekend I'm treating that as a massive victory, even if we lost the game in the end.

Missing 11 players which for a small single team club is a tricky situation. Only had 4 recognised batsmen and needed to chase 160 odd to remain as surprise league leaders. I came in at 30-2 knowing there was 2 'batsman' below who have a combined average of 2 and another who hadn't played for a number of years plus the usual bowlers at 9, 10 and 11. Took all I had to restrain myself and play purely for time while trying yo creep towards the target. Was dismissed when only 30 runs away which thankfully we managed to get to stay top.
To make this season even more strange is yesterday's runs put me 2nd in the divisions top scorers. Believe me those words have never been put together before!! 🤣

Momentum is a big thing, third 24 point win on the bounce skittling another team for less than 120. We are top, have a small cushion and are looking good. Top five scoring runs and 5 bowlers runnung through sides. Everything is sunny with us.

Deck was a shocker with balls rolling and lifting off a length yesterday. I got my first failure with the bat since the first game of the season with 5, four of which came of a female waricks county player. On the flip side i took three catches behind the stumps but for the first time in last ten years ive got three ruined fingers and a massive bruise on my palm. Every delivery hurts and ropey pitches do not help.

Well yesterday was a good one!

Was dropped from the seconds back to the thirds, which I was displeased about so questioned it as I wasn't given a fair crack - told that I needed to score run and take wickets in the third team to get my place back.

We bowled first in very windy conditions, managed 7-0-26-1, never really got going with the wind and a short offside boundary and some poor colt fielding conceded a fair few runs but only got myself to blame for that. Managed a direct hit run out from the boundary and took a catch to top it off.

Went out to open the batting (yes, that's how short on batting we are!) chasing 145 to win. Managed to slowly but surely score myself my first 50 in cricket!! Converted that into 61 before tiredly missing a straight one, who knew batting was so tiring! We managed to win the game with around 3 overs to go I think being 4 down.

So hopefully that'll earn me my place back in the second team, what you think?
