Played my first Sunday game of the season today, played as we only had 10 for today before the guy covering for me yesterday broke his jaw so my gorgeous other half allowed me to play today.
Batted first opening bowler was the biggest chucker Iv seen in ages not even subtle going along nicely before said chucker bowled me a Jaffa that pitched leg and cliped in the faintest way possible off bail bowled for 13 2nd ball of the 11th over to be 59-1. End of that over 59-4 a few lads were pretty annoyed he wasn't called but Sunday cricket I guess. From that we managed 177 all out.

In reply said chucker opened the batting also and he smashes 37 off 3 overs before chipping out spinner to cover from 37-1 they were all out for 78 in 17 overs. That ensures our survival in Sunday Div 1 for another year which is decent as most sides have teams in EAPL and we play div 7 at present always seem to hold our own each year.

I went out on loan today and....
- batted No.11 where I faced 2 deliveries before the young lad at the other end got bowled.
- didn't bowl.
- fielded the ball twice
The team I played for did win but not exactly the most thrilling of Saturday afternoons and I didn't really rate the tea much either.

Poor show.

Arrived today at our ground today to find a bunch of travelers had entered overnight and were now parked across the entire pitch, including 2 caravans on the square itself. I was one of the last to arrive and someone had already asked if they would mind moving off the playing area to which they apparently replied they would if we paid them £50 per caravan. Fortunately one of lads knew his home ground (3 miles away) was free so we all drove there only to find the keys had not been returned from yesterdays game. Anyhow someone then returned to the first ground, collected a set of stumps and we finally started around 3pm with us fielding first.

Anyhow I got slightly more involved today as I picked up a wicket (just bowled the final over but this time it was my choice) then opened the batting scoring 8 (2 boundaries) before getting bowled trying to be too aggressive, too early. The opposition had a good mixture of bowlers including someone who I believe is now 83 and also a leggie who had both control along with subtle variations. Have to say that I especially enjoyed watching the leggie bowl (I was now umpiring) despite the fact he had our batsmen tied up in knots. Eventually we ended up around 40-50 short but it turned out to be a decent game of cricket.

Love the persistence to get the game on! Hope you're able to clear the travellers by next Saturday mate!

A really good win for my side yesterday, Beating top of the league by 8 runs.

Batted first and were in trouble at 12-3 before our Father and Son combination put on 100 (Father ended up on 91, Son on 50-odd) To get us to a very competitive total of 186. I was run out batting at 11.

We then had them 70-3 when i came onto bowl. Since my injury i've been struggling to find my length as a spinner and Sunday was no different. Went for 18 off 2 overs before i voluntarily took myself off. Captain said he'd rather have given me more overs as i didn't have much of a game batting 11 and having 2 overs, but it was such a tight game that i didn't want to sabotage our chances by bowling anymore.

We took wickets at key times and with them needing 12 off the last over, some quality bowling and fielding gave us some breathing space above the relegation zone.

We had a very competitive game yesterday. We won the toss and elected to field first. They scored 178 in 25 overs. I took 2 wickets for 33 in 5 overs. One of the league best batsmen was batting against me but I didn't let him score against my off spin. We must have dropped about 5 catches yesterday and gave the other team momentum to finish their inning strongly. I have been asked to open the inning because it comes naturally to me. I ended up edging to the slip in the 3rd over by playing a reckless/unnecessary slog. I made 25 on 10 balls included a six and 2 fours. I provided my team the momentum they needed to chased down the score. We ended up chasing in down on a last ball with 9 wickets down.

It's first v second for us on Saturday although we have a 31 point lead the opposition  due to recent signings have a stronger team ( and that's if we can get  eleven on the pitch ) they scored 327 last Sat but the league have for the second half of the season   introduced the draw so if we can't win try not to lose problem  with that is my teammates natural game is to go for the win.

Any team that bats out for a draw may as well not bother turning up in the first place IMO. My one pet hate of growing up in the Worcs league, ridiculous rule!

In this instance though drawing And  stopping the opposition winning  could be the difference between the club winning the league or  losing and finishing second.

Not interested personally - the amount of games for OEs I played where we'd put on 250/300 in the first innings for the oppo to come out and bat negativity from the start has somewhat ruined the idea of draws for me.

Anyway, since when did professional cricket ever involve draws in one day matches? It's just the Worcs league meddling as per usual (about time the committee got replaced!)

There are going to be  some changes Adam as certain members of the committee are stepping down.

Game called off tonight so voided so same as a loss. Pretty annoyed as they are near bottom has really impacted on our promotion chance. Cup semi at weekend and 1s are missing a few plus we are missing a couple so a few 3s in side against team in league above don't fancy our chances. Looked like we would walk League after first few weeks but wheels have come off due to availability. Pretty annoyed at moment hopefully I'm proved wrong at weekend.

Following 10.30am ground inspection we are off today can't lose top spot but other teams that play  can close the gap.

Well that was eventful!
Fun and games with selection meant I went from 2nd XI's best player last week, to being back the 3rd XI (club politics, eh?) when the teams were announced. Due to someone going to a pre season football match instead of playing I was called back up to the 2nd XI yesterday lunch time.

None of that mattered in the end though as all games have been called off anyway.
