Into the business end of my Saturday season now, 3 games to go and we are top but our gap has narrowed significantly from the middle of the summer.

All we have to do is win our last 3 (and ensure we win & take 10 wickets for maximum points in at least one game) and the league is ours. Not taking anything for granted but our last 3 games are against the two sides who came up last season and are all but down already.

Win and we face a playoff against other leagues in East Anglia to gain entry into the East Anglian ECB premier league.

On a personal note I'm on course to break my PB of 62 wk dismissals in a season :)

Jake, I heard you didn't want to go into the EAPL. Do I assume from this post I was fed misinformation?

I've been told lots of different things by various people about what we supposedly do and don't want to do, but I can assure you any gossip out there from anyone claiming to know is exactly that; gossip. Me and Robin know what our preferred option for the club is, but that is as wide as the circle of knowledge stretches currently. We haven't discussed with the playing group (who should be the main ones making the decision in my opinion) as we want to concentrate on the games we have remaining.

The reality is we have a number of options on the table, including joining another league a bit more geographically suited to us compared to the current potential trip in the EAPL from north of Peterborough to Frinton near Clacton for an 11am start - a 3 hour journey on a good day, and we know how poor East Anglias road network is.

We haven't decided on anything yet. We are focusing on winning a league that many people told us we had won weeks ago. The very real scenario is we could win all 3 games and still finish second if Ramsey take max points and we don't, or we could get rained off and they don't. We'd look like chumps if that happens and we'd been shouting from the rooftops about our EAPL intentions.

There is also the playoff to consider, winning the league doesn't automatically entitle us to an EAPL place, we have to win a game against Norfolk or 2 Counties opposition.

Good for you and it wasn't a criticism. The EAPL is not the be all and end all. It can ruin clubs if you are not careful. This is a personal and not a club view. Good luck for the last few games.

Played at a lovely ground at Rowington Sunday. Our idiot of a captain lost the toss and on a warm day we thought we were on for a long session with 10 men on a decent looking deck. They had several guys who play a higher standard in their 1s.

What do I know. Bowled them out for 93, easing off as they added 20 odd for the last wicket. Our hung over skipper took 3 first up despite being so hung over he could barely stand up. I chipped in with 2 before getting yanked to try and give them runs. That failed miserably when our 67 year old took out two of their 1st teamers with a play on chasing a wide followed by a top edge full toss. One of those days when you just get lucky. We tried to give everyone a bat but at 25-4 I joined one of our decent batters and we knocked it off without much fuss.

The oppo today were already down and many of them decided to go to T20 finals day, their second team players were kept in the second team to push for promotion leaving us to play against some of the youngest 1st team players and older blokes from the 3rds. They turned up with 7 and a scorer....

I feel sorry for the guys asked to play against us today, nothing against those blokes at all and they were all very apologetic. It's embarrassing from the club though, particularly the senior members/committee.

All out for 39 in 13 overs, we chased it none down in 4 overs, had tea, couple of pints then watched our clubs football team kickoff at 2. I sort of feel robbed of a day of sport.

Same oppo next week......

Shockingly bad for the level of cricket to be honest. OK they are newly promoted this year and have gone straight back down already whereas we are pushing to win the league, so I'm sure both sides knew the likely outcome of the game well in advance. But as a club asking 7 (with only 3 regulars as far as I can tell) to make an away trip to represent your first team is pretty poo.

Wondering what next week will be like, undecided whether it's even worth giving the guys who went to finals day any needle when we field.

They dropped a few first team bowlers into a Sunday Hunts 5 game last season and I didn't feel like they had the better of me and I'm a poor lower order Hunts 4 bat! Remember saying to one of our bats that they will struggle in Tucker 1 but today is a whole new level of embarrassment for them! I presume that means you've won the league?

On a more positive note, our 2's stayed up which has led a certain local advocate of #BanThePros going very quiet!

Last league game today. Won the toss and put them in. Bowled them out for 150 (including 34 legside wides). Knocked them off 5 down with yours truly scoring.73. Tried a ramp shot to score the winning runs and got bowled.
That leaves us division 2 winners and 2 promotions in 2 years. Happy days for us.

Wacker Legend is absolute Twitter gold. Go back to 2015 on his timeline if you have some time and want to wind him up, Newborough had an aussie on £1 a run and he was still banging on about banning the pros, even when everyone was letting him about his own clubs pro earning £3 for that days performance lol

No Ramsey got 30 points too so we have a 14 point lead with 2 games left. Win both and it's ours.

Played a friendly yesterday
Lasted 3 balls before being clean bowled

Ball seaming down a slope into me
Big technical issue for me
Ball keeps low too

Our skipper had a lovely lovely hunts county cuarelix that he'd just had made
A proper work of art
And surely some of the best bat branding ever

Lovely poem.  ;)

I seem to remember him crying over you having Rob Woolley a few years ago, he's a dickhead behind the stumps as well, much like their first team sledgers, who very quickly shut up when our 6'6 bat came back to have a word after a send off! To put the icing on the cake, our 13 year-old leggie took 5-for to win the game today. Half of our club have been tweeting him with #BanThe13YearOlds today haha. He's worse than Akthar on Twitter.

Who's the Aussie who they had on ££? could be good for when he eventually bites back!

Still top with last game next week, 4 point cushion slashed to 1. 2nd place picked up full 20 after their opposition give them a walk over. We batted first, 300-4 off 45,I didn't need to pad up. Opposition made no attempt to chase and blocked out for 45 overs, we got 4 wickets, dropped 3 bonus points :(
