Big game yesterday. Us 2nd vs top.

We won and inserted them. We bowled and fielded really well and restricted them to 156 for 9.

We was happy as our pitch has been a road, fast out field and even some poorer teams have made near 200.

We looked to be right as we set of well. As the first wicket fell we was 51 on the board after only 9 overs.
It was me that fell. Predetermined shot and I yorked myself to the spinner. I made 43 of 26 balls.

My fellow opener made 20 odd before departing. And that's when we started losing wickets regularly without scoring many.

In got very nerve racking towards the end. And we just knocked it off, 9 down. With 3 overs remaining! Number 11 with a lovely square cut for 4.
Was a tight game and worthy of a top of the table clash.

Going into the last game we are 3 points clear of them. So a full win is needed! Incomplete win for us could give them the title again.

Very tight season!

I seem to remember him crying over you having Rob Woolley a few years ago, he's a dickhead behind the stumps as well, much like their first team sledgers, who very quickly shut up when our 6'6 bat came back to have a word after a send off! To put the icing on the cake, our 13 year-old leggie took 5-for to win the game today. Half of our club have been tweeting him with #BanThe13YearOlds today haha. He's worse than Akthar on Twitter.

Who's the Aussie who they had on ££? could be good for when he eventually bites back!

Yes I've noticed a lot of tweets have headed his way lol. I think they called the lad Bert. Never played against him as they were in the league below.

sounds like a well matched contest... I think these are the games we all enjoy the most... no matter the standard of play if the teams are well matched its always enjoyable I find.

Secured automatic promotion yesterday.

Batted first and racked up 313 for 6, I managed to nick off for 25 which was really annoying on a decent deck with small boundary which purely for selfish reasons was even more annoying as I could have finished top for batting avg for the season and highest runs scored with a decent knock.
Anyone a lad earlier this year had his jaw broken whist fielding and he made his return yesterday to hit a nice 100 and everyone got a few.

In reply we blew the top 5 away for about 20 runs so openers came off to let our 2 young leggies bowl and they ended up bowling out the tail, only down side was it took another 25 overs with them hardly hitting off the square and they were eventually bowled out for 76

Last game next week and 1st vs 2nd to decide who wins the league as only 2 Pts between us both

So we sat a place above the drop zone playing the team below us, with Robertsbridge already relegated, it was a fight for survival.

Skipper did his 1, 2, 3s with our form at home which turned out we've been pretty good at home and the away form was our downfall. So we were high in confidence before we started.

Having played the oppo a few times over the past 2/3 years, int he league and cup we knew we restrict them and chase it down. So when we won the toss we bowled.

We struggled early on and they were going at 7s, a change of bowling typically changed our luck and we took 3 quickly.

I came on to bowl and after bowling a tight spell of seam up last week skipper asked me to see how the leg spin goes.. I've been trying hard in the nets and tweaked a few things especially my run up which became alot straighter and ive bowled my best spell ever.

Took 2 wickets should have been 4 but our keeper cant look up apparently 🙈

They ended up 185-7. Giving us 7 points and leaving us needing 7 to stay up which worked out to be 180 runs.

We started of shakey with our trusty opener falling for just 4. But our other openiler who doesnt play alot fell scoring 50 not long after our number 3 scored only 11. 80odd-3 and number 4 started with a slap off a full toss for 4. 4th wicket worth 80 runs as our number 5 fell bottling a 50 leaving the number 4 on 45 and number 6 to finish it off.

We survived!!! And the party started!

I am glad it is finally over - Not had the best of seasons - only highlights being i have scored more runs than i did last year, a new HS of 138*. New best Bowling figures of 9 overs 5 maidens 7 wickets for 16 runs.

But otherwise i have not really enjoyed it to the point i did not play yesterday as i had enough.

Roll on the off season - Time to rest, reload, get fit.

Rubbish game yesterday even though we won.

Lost the toss and bowled first. Openers took seven between them, one with a well earned fivefer. I was the only other bowler and got 3/7 off 3.4 thanks to some appalling batting on what can best be described as an interesting pitch. They were 88ao inside 22 overs.

We went from 40/0 to 71/6, with me and one of the other spinners in needing a few and with some balls leaping off a length, others rolling along the floor. Ended up hitting 5* with the winning runs, one boundary smacked between mid off and extra cover before splicing one short of mid off to win it.

Really poor level of opposition for the supposedly good level my club plays at. Looking forward to a better standard when I join Ansty next season as they seem very keen to have me.

So - we won by 215 runs yesterday in our final match of the season. Finished second, with only one team going up, so we are consigned to another year in this bizarre league, where the standards vary wildly.

Yesterday we posted 252-7 off our 45 overs, and bowled them out for 37.

Bizarrely I opened the bowling, and really 'brung the heat' - 9-7-7-3 !!!

Haha!  I just looked at my league figures - 21 wickets at 8.70 I'll take,  but I scored 8 runs this season. 8 runs!!!!!!!!!!!!

To be miffed or not to be miffed??

Scored 93 not out when our skipper declared so we could have 4 overs against opponents before lunch.  I get his decision but only needed one more over.

Did not and do not envy any skipper in his position, team game etc.

Depends how important the game was and rhe standard of the oppo, but unless it wins the league i would be miffed

In our league you only get 2 points for a win. Nothing for loss or points when the other team cancels.

Final game of our season, we're top of the league leading by two points and we're due to play against the team placed second who just so happen to be 2 points behind us. We've played them before and lost (a game we should have won, but lost).

Problem is, we can't raise a team. So if we cancel, we win. Last year they cancelled the last game to win the league. What would you do?

Our club went through all of our teams and put together a mostly young average team. They did their best but valiantly lost meaning we're placed second.

While a rue the chance of giving someone a taste of the medicine and winning by default I commend the club for doing what they did. We should have won the league before this game and I know next year will be different.

On a personal note, very happy with the team/club and happy as a whole with my performances. My batting average has improved and while I didn't play as much as last year I was one off being top league wicket taker (last year top wicket taker) while my bowling average has also improved.

Roll on next year.
